Depends on how you define "intense", and if you are sober while listening to it. Radiohead can be very "intense".
I personally believe Rise Against is the most intense band I listen to. Their songs are full of adrenaline-induced choruses and some of the songs are pretty heavy, while some are really fast and "intense".
For psychedelic intense: Wolf Eyes

For pure hardcore intensity, you can't do better than The First Four Years album by Black Flag.
Anyone who argues black flag is wrong.
All these weak metal bands have nothing on Flag and Minor Threat.NearTheEnd
You obviously have no comprehension on what is actually intense.
I totally forgot about void.
The faith/void split is one of the best splits ever.
NearTheEnd
wooooooooord.
faith's side was good and all (they were much better on the subject to change ep), but void blew them out of the water with their side.

Yeah, some well fed dude throwing cheesy riffs at me from a barricaded stage screams intense.
Metal has nothing on hardcore in terms of intensity.

I have Faith/void/faith on cd.
Subject to change is tacked on to the end.

As opposed to a bunch of clumsy mongoloids that can barely play a fairly decent song with any actual variation and rhythm?
You think it's easy playing Metal? Try listening to Dark Tranquillity or Opeth, and then tell me that they're just a bunch of cheesy riffs with incomprehensible screams. I honestly fail to see how Hardcore surpasses Metal in terms of Intensity. Hell, Intensity is one of the core components of the Metal sound.

hardcore isn't about having the craziest solos or time changes.
