I just got back from Warped Tour and the band that stole the show (and on a bill that big it's no joke) was As I Lay Dying. He told some story about a sick friend back home who made him promise that they would make the biggest pit on the tour.

At our stop, the ground was ALL just dirt, and there was dust EVERYWHERE, alot of people wussed out and had masks on and bandanas over their mouths, but the rest of us will probably be coughing up blood tomorrow. You couldn't see below you're waist because it was all black from the dust, AND it was blocking alot of the sunlight. Very epic looking, it was just dim brown when you looked up. AND as the final icing on the cake, Killswitch Engage had us do a death wall, likely having us unknowingly trample a person or two. Anyways, AILD's mosh circle was MASSIVE, never seen anything like it.

Who has done it the best in your experience?

(btw I saw: A Static Lullaby, Throwdown, Drop Dead Gorgeous, AILD, KSE....I missed Still Remains and most of ASL though :()

People were bouncing off the walls when I saw Allan Holdsworth playing a couple years back. Something about jazz fusion that stirs the blood in people.

with the concerts I've been to, Slayer and Lamb of God had the best mosh pits. I just hate the fact that every LoG concert I went to, they never do the Wall of Death. :(

they did. I went to the Unholy Alliance in San Jose, Gigantour in Oakland, and Ozzfest in Marysville, I was on the floor every time, and no wall of death. From what I heard they stopped doing it or something, but I saw some YouTube videos of them doing it, so...I don't know reason behind it.

Though, the crowd at Ozzfest was complete crap, I tried to start up a mosh pit, succeded once, and then the next time people just looked at me like I was crazy. Even Randy Blythe was yelling at everyone saying stuff like "You guys aren't at a Backstreet Boys concert, I want to see blood on the ground by the time this song is done!"

When I hear about mosh pits, I get the cringes. I went to some concert festival in Tulsa, Ok in the mid 90's called the "Edge Fest" and was in the mosh pit when they did this "everyone squeeze together and try to sufficate one another" type deal. I sware I almost died. No more mosh pits for me.

Lacuna Coil/The Gathering/Within Temptation at El Corazon in Seattle this summer. It was unbelievably hot though, people were passing out all over the place. One kid in the pit had a neckbrace. Good times.

When I saw Slayer in January their circle pit was massive, but the most violent pit I've ever been in has to be when I saw Nile in a small club with about a hundred people.I only fell once but landed on my knee hard, broke the fall of two guys who got into a fist fight moments earlier, was dragged by a security guard and thrown out with the two dicks who were fighting. They let me back in when after one song though, but dragging my already badly battered knee on that sticky wooden floor ripped the little cut from my initial fall wide open.
