It was the landmass that existed millions of years ago, then due to movement of tectonic plates it gradually split up into the continents we know today.
Australia isn't a continent, it's a country. You should replace Australia with Oceania, since Oceania is a continent and Australia is in it along with other countries like New Zealand and New Guinea.:|
