Currently, the seriously hyped Iron Man 2 holds a 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 28 positive reviews out of 38 total. This is notably lower than the first Iron Man's score, which held a 93%.

Most, if not all, critics who have reviewed the film so far have been saying that the film doesn't live up to the first, most notably this dude:

"Everything fun and terrific about Iron Man, a mere two years ago, has vanished with its sequel. In its place, Iron Man 2 has substituted noise, confusion, multiple villains, irrelevant stunts and misguided story lines." --Kirk Honeycutt, The Hollywood Reporter

This guy, although way less harsh and whose last name doesn't sound near as ridiculous as the first guy's, seems to agree:

"Despite strong performances, impressive effects and a handful of decent action scenes, Jon Favreau's eagerly-awaited Iron Man sequel is, unfortunately, not as good as the first film." --Matthew Turner, ViewLondon

Lame, harsh critics.....who needs them? You must admit, no one likes to hear their most anticipated action flick (especially if it's IRON MAN) get bashed on over a week before its release. I mean, after the first one, we all pretty much thought Jon Favreau had the sequel in the bag. Well, there's one guy in the bunch who actually seems likable:

"There was not one moment in Iron Man 2 where I didn't think 'I'm enjoying this'" --Jordan Hoffman, UGO

Yeah, we should probably listen to that guy more often. He knows not to hurt the feelings of us diehard fans.

Anyway, these are the first batch of reviews and, knowing the hype of the film and the fact that there's nearly a week left before its release, at least a hundred other reviews are bound to come in for critics (lame and cool alike) to voice their opinions. I can say that either way, I'm still psyched for this to come out and will see it no matter what.

I'll admit 74% is a bit disappointing for me, for it is unlikely that it will change too drastically for the better, but as long as it blows my mind like I expect it to and it doesn't disappoint like Spider-Man 3 did then I'll have nothing to complain about.

I'd like to hear from the rest of you what you make of what's being said about Iron Man 2 so far.

What do they think about Scarlett's breasts in this movie? Do they get enough breathing room?

I've heard it's absolutely terrible. I haven't read a positive review from any actual trusted source yet.

Anybody care to explain what was so great about Iron Man 1? I'm a fan of action movies, but I honestly found it unremarkable other than Downey's character. I was shocked to see how high review scores it was getting on RottenTomatoes after I checked. Nevertheless 74% is really good for action flicks.

This is what I think of critics, so I don't really care what negative things these people have to say about this movie, or any movie, for that matter.

I'll probably love it, I can see the movie getting complicated and messy by adding more enemies, but it means there are gonna be moe sequels! I'm waiting for GI JOE 2 to be properly announced

Honestly, I can already tell from the commercials that it's not going to surpass the first. But I will still see it and enjoy it.

Critics don't go to a movie to enjoy it. They go to find flaws and nitpick. So I don't listen to them

Reviews are nice but movies are very subjective to each person. Personally i didnt think Ghost Rider was all that bad or even Blade 3, besides the kind of lack of blade in it lol. Jon just kinda went the Mike Bay way with the film. Really the first Iron Man kinda reminded of Transformers which was fine with me.

Well the first was hyped quite alot, so no surprise it doesn't live up to it. I didn't really like the first. The villain was just bad and it didn't come off as some epic movie, just an average popcorn flick.

At the very least, this one seems to have a superior villain. I prefer him over Generic Evil Buisnessman.

UPDATE: The slightly dissenting "Tomatometer" for Iron Man 2 won't seem to budge. The film's score remains 74% on the website Rotten Tomatoes, now with 35 positive reviews out of 47 total. I guess we'll have to wait and tune in this week and see how the film does critically as time progresses.

A final, more definite score should be up just before Friday.

I don't think it'll touch the 1st in reviews on rottentomatoes, but it'll be in the 70-80 range at least.

I think people need to ignore critics so much in all capacities. If you're a die hard fan or you're really looking forward to something, unless it gets absolutely terrible reviews you're definitely still going to like it.

I really enjoyed the pacing and I thought the script was clever and well put together. That being said, I thought the last battle and ending sucked, and over all the movie had little depth. It was a fun experience, but only worth watching once IMO.

I enjoyed the first movie immensely, so I'm sure I'll like this one. Maybe it's just me, but every movie I see Robert Downey Jr. in, I absolutely love. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.

I don't care about movie critics. Often times their problem is that they want to rate movies on the grounds of how well made or artistic they are, rather than if the average Joe would want to see it.

The first Iron Man movie was just a way to kill two hours, and if that's all you want then it did it pretty well. The fact that Iron Man 2 would just add flashier action sequences and more explosions and special effects would be sticking to Hollywood's "Bigger Is Better" theory that has worked so well for summer blockbusters in the past.

All these haters. The first one was great. Excellent acting, great action scenes/special effects, and Jeff Bridges as Iron Monger baby! The first one was great. It didn't take a Marvel fan to see this. :P My opinion on the reviews for the sequel; it was even more anticipated than the first, therefor the expectations were higher, and it was critiqued a little harsher.

yeah I kind of agree. I mean the reason I loved the first one was because of Robert Downey's acting and the fact he played a character that had such a big ego. the fight scenes and action were really just okay in my book. I'm gonna see the next one because I love the actors in it.

The action was one of the worst parts about Iron Man IMO..........the final sequence of the movie was a very poorly directed action scene with cheesy special effects. The same sort of action we saw in movies like Fantastic 4.

The Dark Knight to me clearly had much better action sequences, the chase scene in the Batpod and the flipping of the truck alone was better than any action scene in Iron Man, because it was actually directed effectively with real stuntwork and real physical special effects, with absolutely no cheesy CGI.

I never understood the point of listening to movie reviews. If you're interested in seeing the movie then go see it. Don't let someone elses review or opinion (that's basically what reviews are) of the movie stop you.

Films like this dont tend to get good reviews from critics.
