I saw the movie yesterday and I throughly enjoyed it. Plenty of action, and unlike what I was expecting it wasn't another "god bless America" and "America saves teh world" movies. Rihanna was also not a bad addition. Anyway what did the rest of ya think?
How exactly wasn't the movie America saves the world? That's almost exactly what it was. It was a terrible waste of money to make. Glad I saw it for free.
It was pretty awful. I mean how goddamn long did we have to sit around waiting for the aliens to even get there? S*** what a waste of time. Some real cringe-worthy acting too. You would have to be like less than 14 to enjoy it

i havent seen it yet but i thought hollywood must be desperate for ideas on making a movie based on boardgame,but i do love sci/fi so ill give it ago when it comes out here

I can only imagine this film is for those who just want to sit back, watch some cool special effects go off and relax. I can not see why every film has to be some sort of emotional masterpiece or something that tries to hard to make you think (inception).
I am looking forward to seeing it and to lose some IQ while doing so. I am not going to watch it for its story, or to take me on some sort of rollercoaster. I just want to be entertained for a bit with lots of pretty effects. However if its too much like transformers I shall too come back and reply with a head up the arse comment like ones already on here :P

I'm not giving a dime of my money towards that film. It should be about actually sea ships instead of some freaking aliens. You can always count on Hollywood to come up with crappy plots off of games.
I'm still trying to understand the premise of the movie.
From the preview I saw earlier this year, it looked like Aliens take over a patch of water and make Warships shoot at each other, ala the Battleship board game.
Which sounds incredibly stupid.
But I am curious as to exactly what the heck is the point of the whole movie other than to raise some hype for the board game.

I forgot that the movie was getting released in the UK over a month before the US. Anyway, I might catch it when it hits Netflix, unless it gets a massive recommendation on Rotten Tomatoes. Rihanna may be hot (yes, I'm aware she isn't hot by OT standards so I don't need to be reminded of that) but she's not hot enough to spend eight bucks on a movie ticket if the movie sucks.
I'll probably end up seeing it. I enjoy action movies you don't have to take too seriously (ie. Independance Day). I go to see movies to be entertained.
