I was looking up the names of soft drinks in America a couple of minutes ago. Then I saw a link that led to a "Pop vs. Soda" site that listed and located the names of soft drink and where they are said.

This is probably a cliche poll but I doubt Soft Drink name polls are around.

For me, I call them soda.

Most everyone calls everything "Coke" down here.  Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, it's all Coke.

I try not to though.  I usually go with Soda, but never will I call it Pop.

I can attest to the southern thing; they do that alot. Here, we just say soda, hardly anyone says pop.

Erm...we still have the Confederate Flag flying on the State Capitol lawn, fired the first shots of the Civil War, can't really get much more "Southern" than here.

Yeah, I was thinking about that.  The epitomal Southern state is too Yankee to call it "Coke". :P

Yes. And? It's really not that complicated. If someone says, "In X, they do Y" and I say, "Im from X, and I don't do Y" I'm demonstrating that there might be a flaw in the generalization, not that there isn't anyone in X that doesn't do Y.
