In the US of A its called soccer, but I'd like to know what they call it in your country.
If I could hear from New Zealand, Australia, and/or some of the other English-speaking countries that'd be great.

I live up at Tweed Heads which is in NSW and about a 5 minute walk from QLD, both states use the term Rugby and Rugby League to describe football.[QUOTE="m45t3rch13f"]サッカー(sakkaa) = soccer in Japan.smc91352wow; that's so cool. I didn't expect Japan of all places to call it soccer (or something similar) Well, the Americans came and rebuilt Japan after WW2. I guess that's how it is called "soccer".
Majority of people still call it soccer here in Australia, but more and more are calling it football.
Problem here i that now we have Rugby League, Rugby Union, AFL and now "soccer" being called football (these are four of the most followed team sports in this country)
We call it football, because that's what it is called.Bourbons3This. I don't even know why the American football is even called that, it's not as if the players actully use their feet all that often.
In Australia it is mostly known as "soccer" to differentiate it from three other football codes the AFL, Rugby League and Rugby Union which are all called football depending on the state as they are popular in different states. Nonetheless the governing organization of "soccer" in Australia acknowledged the games original name and changed their name from from 'Soccer Australia' to 'Football Federation of Australia' or the FFA for short. All commentators of the sport here call it football and it is catching on to some extent but with the national teams nickname the Socceroos I don't know how far it will get, and they can't really abolish that name as it's a brand name now so the FFA decided to keep the name.
Oh by the way don't underestimate us at next years World Cup :D :P
