Also boring things like electic bills, gas, phone and hi speed internet, taxes, rent, car payments, etc.  That takes a big chunk.

What's wrong with legally buying music? I'm a collector, and I'm comin' up on 300 albums owned. I like owning the actual disc, album art, and case, not just some MP3 file on a computer.
