EA is planing on making its own consoles in the not so distant future. They are already trying to take over all the game developing companies. These guys have been around before the Atari 2600 days and they definately know how to do business.

I heard about this thru a friend and saw a piece on the evening news a while back. I'm sure there's something on the net about it ( I'll look around later) but what do you think?

Do you think EA will take over or what?

You have proof they're gonna make a console?

They would have quite a stranglehold, that's for sure. Especially with exclusive sports licenses.

I think NHL Hero, where you have a hockey stick controller revolutionizing sportsgames forever. Also, the ingame fights. ;)

I don't really care at all about console games. I'm a hardcore gamer for life :P

They can do whatever they want with consoles for all I care.

I'd buy it, and I find it hard to believe that there's a possibility that it could lose.

I would prefer a console that worked. Most EA games tend to be full of a lot of glitches on release, and require patches straight away (Take Battlefield 2142 for example, had a patch the day of release). Imagine what it would be like if they made an actual console.

first off this belongs in the general games forums and a EA console would be horrible. it would have more problems then the 360.

They should try making good games, before they move onto consoles.

I don't care for EA and I don't care for their games. I don't think they'd last.

Well that article is merely speculation. Even so, it makes a good point that EA's games exclusively on their own platform would deal huge blows to the Big 3.

It will never happen. EA is most profitable as a third party software developer. Their general business plan is to churn out annual versions of all their IPs on every system that still has at least some modicum of a user base. If they made their titles like Madden and The Sims exclusive to one console (even if it's their own) they would lose out on a ton of money.

true, but what if they buy all of the best game developers? they already have Rockstar, 2K, valve and possibly bungie. a mindmelt of these companies and the possiblities are endless. EA did make the first handheld videogames way back in the days and a console is that power move i know they've been wanting to take for some time now.
