Alright. When this director first came out, he made The 6th Sense and Unbreakable. The general consensus for these movies were that they were pretty good. People thought was going to be the next big name in Hollywood. Ever since then, he's been pretty much nose-diving. He's just been getting progressively worse with each movie.

Now, I have to think that he must be capable of making good movies. He made two of them. Hell, The Village had potential until he ruined it with one of his stupid "twists".

What do you think is different between 1999 and now? Was he just riding on his success with the first too movies for too long? Do you think he will eventually redeem himself?

Not even close dude :|. Neill Blomkamp, the guy who did that Halo short, did it.

If M. Night Shyamalan did District 9 the aliens would turn into space kittens by the end and the spaceship would really be a giant Walmart.

Did you see Lady in the Water? He wrote himself into the role of the "great artist who will never be understood in his time yet will eventually become the saviour of humanity." The villain of the piece was a critic. There was a character called Story and she was a "narf."It alljust makes we want to take a damn melonballer tothe inside of my skull.

Signs was O.K. It wasn't as good as the 6th Sense. Arguably better than Unbreakable, though I didn't really care for Unbreakable either. A lot of people liked that movie, so that's why I included it in the description.

Maybe he was injured in a tragic twist and thought that absurd plots would be conceivable, hence movies like The Happening and The Village.

See I wasn't too big on The Sixth Sense. My two faves are Unbreakable and Signs. And then pretty much everything after that went downhill.

He focuses too much of recapturing what made the 6th sense so great, and having alot of twists :P.

He needs to move on or else the trees will get him .

I think he just took twist endings too far after the 6th sense.
I didn't like Signs at all, the ending ruined it for me. I only thought6th Sense and Unbreakable were good.

lol this. Really, when you screw up your only two options are generally to A. remain in denial and wait for whatever you did wrong to get worse, or B. admit you ****ed up and try not to do it again; generally by finding out what you did wrong last time.

I don't think there was much consensus about Unbreakable being a good movie. Anyway... He made one mediocre movie that was overall rather uninteresting and uneventful and he became a victim of his own inexplicable success, where he thought he had to try to stick a twist ending in every movie, no matter how idiotic the rest of the movie has to be to get to it or how utterly stupid and anti-climatic the big "twist" ends up being anyway. I don't think he will redeem himself because I don't think he was ever good at making movies to begin with. I've seen plenty of other movies that are more interesting than his despite being equally or even more stupid plot-wise.

I think he just got lucky with 6th sense and rode on the wave for Unbreakable. After that, all of his movies have been mediocore at best, and utterly disgusting beyond imagining at worst.

Needless to say, when the studio giants removed his directing training wheels, M. Night fell over.

I heard this joke a while back, it goes as follows: A guy walks into a bar and says, "I'd like to order an M. Night Shyamalan." The bartender says, "Sir, I have never heard of that drink. You'll have to explain it to me." The guy replies, "It's nothing, with a twist!"

He has had a few movies which were alright (Signs, The 6th Sense) but otherwise is just a flop. He still makes money though cause people are still willing to pay for them in hopes that "this one will be better"....

I have probably only ever enjoyed the first two I mentioned and after that they were all flops. The Happening for example, fantastic in the beginning when everyone was offing themselves, but after that it was like 'WTF am I watching and why are you people running from the wind!?!"

I'm thinking he had a Lobotomy after The Sixth Sense. It's the only explanation.

Here's what'll happen:

He'll make another movie. We'll all go see it. We'll say it sucked

He'll make another movie. And here's the twist
we'll still go see and say that it sucked afteward like we have been for the past ten years :P
