Do you return as an animal that best represented how you were during life?

Do you simply rest under the earth and do not ascend at all? Is death that: being inactive forever?

Is there a Heaven? Is there a Hell?

Whatever you believe, post your opinion on what happens after death here.

As much as I would not like to believe this, I believe that when you die it is as you were before you were born, no consciousness of ever being.

Personally, I think that humans are horrified of the thought that we remain inactive forever after death, a feast for the ground and its inhabitants. They want to believe that we exist as spirits after we leave the world to comfort themselves, even though that is scientifically impossible. It can happen, but it's like saying you'll meetthe Tooth Fairy when you lose a tooth. You can believe it, but there's no proof.

Yeah that's certainly the most scientific outcome. It is argued that without a functioning brain, you have no consciousness of any kind, and the best way of describing that state is by asking someone what it was like before they were born... but of course it's just a theory, and any idea could be true. Afterlife, heaven, hell, reincarnation, reborn as another person with no memory of a previous life.. the list is endless. We may never know.

Hmmm, well I certainly don't believe we go to heaven or hell. Or that we just die and that's it. I have some theories, but it's only speculation. I don't believe it's possible for true love to die, so I've decided that we do come back in one form or another. Perhaps we return as a planet and inhabit life forms as this planet does for us. The beauty of the planet determines how beautiful (on the inside) you were as a person. I've concluded that Earth was a beautiful person :P Or maybe we go through a wormhole and return as another life form, perhaps an alien of the sorts.

Does anyone remember the report about the little boy who claimed he was reborn? He was apparently a soldier in his previous life, and accurately described many events and the struggles when he was very young. After having a conversation with a man in his unit, the elderly soldier said "that's him".

I'd like to think that another state of being awaits me after death, but i'm just not certain. Like you said, we may never know. But I guess its all to be divulged in our own good time. ;)

as my dad's friend used to say, "i want to be buried, so the worms can eat me and something good can come out of my death"

popping out of existence would be kind of scary, but it seems the most reasonable explanation to me yet.

I think this may be it unless one devotes their life to something that would be deemed response-worthy in a karmatic universe, like being a monk or killing and spreading ill will.

I also think there's beyond that. If you read the mangas of Akira (the anime movie from back in the day), it may be easier to grasp. Once the consciousness of a singular organism reaches the 'level' of Akira, it is it's own universe...or reality. At that point, I guess it'd make sense to keep one own body after death (DBZ main characters)

I think that when you die, 1 of 2 things will happen. either A: you are judged and go to heaven cuz your name is in the book of life (list of people who go to heaven cuz they accepted Jesus christ) or B: you are judged and you go to hell (seperation from God. I think the whole fire and brimstone thing is a metaphor and what really happens is you are seperated from God for all eternity)

There may be an afterlife but I don't believe in one. I've often felt that belief in the afterlife is largely the result of human conceit -the idea that the self is just too damned important not to be eternal.

"I can not end." I have a hunch that "Yes you can."

Human have a soul and nothing else living has a soul. Why do you suppose this is the case if there's no life after death? God created us with a soul so we can have the opportunity to be with God when we pass from this life. Do you really think we just cease to exist when we die? No wonder you have no hope. I would be depressed if I thought like that. And you certainly don't think you're going to come back as an animal or something else. I choose to believe what the Bible teaches about eternal life and why Jesus came to the earth to die for each one of us so we can have eternal life if we choose to accept it. No one is going to forceit on anyone, it's a free gift and you can choose to reject it. By the way, there is proof for what the Bible teaches and if anyone is serious about finding out more about the Bible then I suggest you go to a local church and ask the pastor. I can direct you to the website for my church if anyone wants it.

I dont know, I just hope its something cool. But you know what makes me angry cause I think about it so much, its just that im asking myself how it would be... to be nothing, I mean it can be like sleeping cause you cant dream and you dont wake up. Y ou can only see ''black'' cause you simply cannot see. So how would it be to ''live'' (lol ironic) an eternity of nothing...hmmm.

Go to the afterlife. People have been reported dead for minutes at a time and then coming back to life. These people claim to see their lives flash before their eyes, and seeing a light at the end of a dark tunnel (these aren't just myths you know). And some say that they have seen God. Why would they lie after just being dead for a few minutes?

Technically, it is the result of blood loss from the brain, and a partial shut-down of their nervous system. The experience of seeing light at the end of a dark tunnel is a common claim, but it has been proven to be related to blood deficiency of the brain from a series of centrifuge tests. There really is no such thing as a near-death experience.

Well that was one of my theory, like holding somebody in a chokehold, after a while their brain wont have blood so they will start to see black and pass out

Someone compared the afterlife to meeting the toothfairy when you lose a tooth. That's a terrible argument because there is no proof to support the idea that the toothfairy exists. There is proof that Jesus Christ existed so you need to do better than that. Comparing Jesus to the toothfairy, Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, etc,is ridiculous.

I don't believe anything happens after death. When you die, your body shuts down and you're gone forever.I do like the idea of reincarnation though. I find it much more appealing than heaven. Life is exciting, while perfection is boring.
