What do you think is the most zealous obsessed fan group?

I used to think the hardcore Michael Jackson fanboys were the most obnoxious and deluded, but the Christopher Nolan fanboys have topped them IMO or are atleast coming damn close. Every reviewer that gave Inception a bad review pretty much got trashed mercilessly by them on Rotten Tamatoes.

What is your choice?

Yeah, but I just chalk it up to their age. I think many of them will grow out of it.

Classic rock fanboys. I have to leave if I see one ranting away (for the sake of holding onto some sanity).

BTW, the reason I say Michael Jackson fanboys are the worst is:

• They actually believed him when he said that he only got one plastic surgery on his nose. How can you fall for that? His face screamed, "I've been under the knife dozens and dozens of times."
• They actually say that Michael was a "saint", all the while ignoring his anti-semetic comments.
• I've actually seen some of the crazier ones them say that they woul still be on Michael's side even if the pedophilia allegations were true. No lie.
• They'll viciously attack any comedian that ever made an MJ joke and will say stuff like, "I bet you feel bad now that's he dead." It's ridiculous.
• They claim that Michael was completely normal and the only reason for any of the controversy was a mass conspiracy against Michael fueled by jealousy.

I respect Michael for the impact he had on pop music, I think some of his songs are legendary, and I think he was probably a very nice (if detached from reality) guy regardless of his anti-semetic views, but his fanboys and girls are so deluded it's not even funny. They treat him like a diety.

To a lesser extent underground hip-hop fans annoy me as well. I like a lot of underground hip-hop but I'm talking about the people who think "the more obscure the better" and all mainstream artists suck.

Black metal fans actually burned churches in Norway, I'm not aware of anything more extreme.

Montreal Canadiens fans can be pretty intense. It's not uncommon for riots to break out in down town Montreal if the Canadiens make the play-offs.

As for fan groups on OT, I'd say Metal fans are pretty zealous.

I helped DJ someone's wedding reception a few days after Michael Jackson died. This bloated housewife that was a guest wouldn't stop nagging me to play Michael Jackson, which I thought was extremely rude when it wasn't HER wedding, so we told her we didn't have any more of his music with us. She walked out to her car and brought us back a CD of her favorite songs and told us to play them all. I pretended to put the disc in our CD player before saying "Oh shucks, it looks like it doesn't want to read it."

I thought she'd give up when she walked away, but unfortunately for us, she walked up to our table every fifteen minutes for about an hour to ask if we got the disc working yet.

I more or less wanted to knife her in the face.

Fans of Radiohead are pretty obnoxious as are fans of Tool, and I like both bands.

Metal fans who like a lot of "folk" metal because it "appeals to cultural interests" are pretty irritating (and the music is lame) too.

Then there's the annoying Bieber fans and pre-teen stuff.

People who defend popular music solely for the reason that it's popular. Never is the argument "oh it's quality music, here's why: " it's always "IT MADE MONEY THEREFORE GOOD."

Anime fans are some of the worst though. Obnoxious and will defend anything and everything from Japan for no reason...

Well, since this is a website about video games, I'd say Valve and Blizzard fanboys. Though they are few in number, they make up for that by raging and frothing at the mouth when you say something they don't like.

But overall, a very close tie between religious fanboys (including atheists) and conservative fanboys. Liberal parties have their fare share of obnoxious fanboys that leave you surprised that they posses enough intelligence to breathe, but I find that conservative fanboys are far louder and more obnoxious.
