How do you feel about formal attire? You know, dress clothing such as slacks, button-up shirts, business suits, etc. I hate them. I don't hate the way the look, but I hate the fact that they are essentially required in order to be considered professional, which makes wearing them contrived, which I don't like. Hence, when someone puts on a suit, especially a good one, they tend to receive props even if they're a douchebag or a moron. "Hey, Jimmy's got a nice suit on! Look at Jimmy!". Yet, Jimmy is the dumbest and rudest guy around.

I don't mind then. Dress pants are actually very comfortable. Only thing that's a b*tch is the tie but in 2012 you can usually get away without wearing one. It's a bit silly that people's opinions change depending on the clothes, but hey, our whole society is retard*d. Just have to play along and make a living.

When I was younger I used to love every opportunity to dress up all fancy. Now I can't stand it.

Another thing I don't like about formal attire is that it is lightweight and loose, which makes me feel naked/ exposed. Not cool.

I'm ambivalent about it. Though I hear that when Clarence dresses up in his shades and his suit all his buddies look at him and say "Damn! Clarence be sharp" and he says "Damn right, just like the highway".

Unless you're a maitre d' at a swanky restaurant, you don't dress formal for work. Business attire (suit, tie) is considered informal.

I used to work for a hospital doing IT work that would make you wear dress slacks and button up shirts just because the doctors and powers to be did. Nothing like crawling around in "nice" clothes and tearing them to shreds. Needless to say I stopped wearing that stuff fairly quickly and started doing night shifts so I didn't have to deal with the managers haha.

Its an old western style of dress. that is slowly fading out of todays society. I used to have to wear a suit to work but now I only wear them for meetings and business appointments. Here, in NYC almost everyone dresses casual (polo shirts, button ups without the tie)unless dealing with clients. You dont want patrons to be staring at your colorful sneakers and suggestive themes on your shirt. PPl are still a bit used to judging a book by its cover, quick to judge you on appearances instead of your contributions. Youll be surprised at how many people wear suits as a disguise, masking themselves in a costume while their professionalism and experience is nonexistent.

It looks great on some people if worn properly, makes normal people look like British royals.

I don't think it's fading out. I'm in NYC and I see people wearing dress clothes all the time, especially in Manhattan.

I work in the city too, Over the years I've seen a steady decline. It's not how it used to be...especially when you look at footage of how we used to dress back in the 60's. You still have your suits but it's just not as many as the yester years.

lol, the truth hurts. And another thing, why does Gamespot say "your browser didn't send the request in time" when it shows a 408 time out error? We all know it ain't the browser's fault it's Gamespots. GS don't you be trying to put the blame on my browser!

Well I've never had a bad time in a tux. And I almost never dress formal and normally stick to flanel, jeans, and boots, so when I do dress up formal I normally feel that I look real good and generaly enjoy it.

I like it. A good suit is very comfortable (unless it's pretty hot) and it just feels good to look good, and if a tux is required there is almost always fun to be had.

I dress up in suits and jackets all the time and women love it. Add some flair to your dress people, and I don't mean that trendy garbage. Don't be afraid to look unlike every other shmuck on the street.

Avoid it when possible.

Often think about scenarios where track suits or overalls ended up being the formal wear of our society.
