I'm asking because I'm a lesbian here on gamespot. And I also need some advice how do I come out to my dad who is a homophobe? Just a question and how many of you are in the same spot I'm in?
I'm not sure what to say because if I was a father, which one day I may well be, and I discovered that my child was homosexual...well, I won't lie to you, I wouldn't be best pleased.
I don't see any reason to tell him, it'll only cause unwanted drama. But that's really only if you're still living at home and your parents still support you, if your'e on your own then go ahead. ;D
Another's sexual preference isn't any of my concern, so gay or lesbian really doesn't make a difference to me. If your dad loves you he should support you no matter what choices you make in life.
well im sorta bi. i just keep that subject closed with my parents. Im married, they dont need to know my sex life. However, if your pure lesbian i can see your problem. I really cant say much about it...but if you have someone there who does support you..just there...holding your hand...makes it worlds easier. (would be best if that person didnt say anything though, was just there for moral support)

I'd say come out to your friends first. I hear that true friends are generally more supportive; if your dad doesn't take too well to the news at first, you can always fall back to your friends for support.

Not knowing anything about your situation or your father, I'd put a lot of thought into what you expect the outcome to be if you tell him. Also, if you have any friends who you are already out to, I'd suggest talking to them about it, or looking for resources online. You might be able to find more support and suggestions on Gamespot here.
Tell him if he doesn't accept who you are, you'll never talk to him or want to see him for the rest of your life. Tell him your relationship will end right there.
I dont see why people would dislike homosexuals. Good luck with your dad. In all honesty, if he hates you because of it, he's not worth bothering over.

Well since you are a lesbian, and not a gay dude, I dont think your dad would mind. I wouldnt if my daughter was a lesbian. Hell, that would take a load off my shoulders knowing I dont have to worry about some little F'er trying to knock her up. You should be okay.
My view on lesbians: It's your sexual preference, it's not important when determining your personality, which is what actually matters. Non-heterosexual sexual preferences are all too often used as a judge of character by bigots, male homosexual (promiscious and feminine), female homosexuals (slutty and always willing to show off for men), bisexual (greedy and a sex addict), pedophiles (child molestors). Of course, I'm sure some of these exist in those capacities, but it's certainly unneeded to make ugly assumptions like those about people.
