I like Vampire Hunter D,

Ghibli films, Tezuka's manga, to name a few.

How about you? Are you a fan? Or are you not? Whyno?

I watched Pokemon, TMNT, Transformers and Naruto as a kid, and I'm catching up to all the Ghibli films as an adult.

Any thoughts on the Netflix Castlevania series?

I like a few.

Cowboy Bebop (series) is awesome. Ghibli movies are amazeballs, huge fan of those. Don't read any manga.

Got the first three seasons. Good stuff. My brother gave it a fail. He didn't like the portrayal of the Belmonts' nor Alucard's.

@DEVILinIRON:

Love it. But for me, it's hard to get into those dumb, macho, over-the-top action anime like Baki or that one about Gods fighting for Ragnarok, I prefer the romantic, slice of life anime. I find them very relaxing and charming.

@R4gn4r0k:

Castlevania comes more across as a live-action portrayal of the game. I know that sounds weird but it's just with exaggerated seriousness in the writing. The only thing anime about Castlevania is the artwork but it doesn't actually sound or feel like an anime. It's crude, vulgar, violent for the sake of violence and just not very fun to watch. The only thing it does right is how it portrays the action from the games. Trevor fights like a true Belmont would and the monsters act and look like they should. But that's where it ends.

I'm not a huge Anime Fan. I like Full Metal Alchemist, that's about it.

Studio Ghibli is the only form of Japanese animation I’ll watch anymore. Too much anime is sexualized and I don’t want to put myself through that crap anymore. Haven’t watched an anime, aside from Ghibli, in over 4 or so years at this point in time. Their movies are usually wholesome.

I really enjoy it. Some favourites of mine have been Neon Genesis Evangelion, Full Metal Alchemist, and Ninja Scroll.

I quite enjoy anime - it's unique as a medium. Don't read manga but I'd like to give a try sometime. Just came back from a trip to Japan and it was eye-openning seeing how huge both manga and anime is in Japan.

I have a few favourites but can't say no to FullMetal Alachemist, Gurren Lagann, Cowboy Bebop & Hunter x Hunter 2011. Manga wise always love reading the latest chapter of One Piece at the moment

A perfectly legitimate art form that I respect the existence of, but simply isn't for me.

I have all of the Studio Ghibli films on Blu-ray. Otherwise, I don’t care for anime.

As for Manga, I don’t like it except for Girl from the Other Side. In the bookstores, the Manga section might as well be a line of trash on the shelves.

Not really into manga, though that's more because I'm not a big comic book/graphic novel person. Not that I dislike it, I just don't really like it.

Same with anime; I missed the boat on that one by a year or two because I have a lot of friends that are really into it that are just a little bit younger than me, but I just didn't grow up with it in my life like a lot of people I know did, so it's not really part of my identity.

With that said, I do enjoy animation, in whatever form it takes, so I am always up for some anime if it's good.

One Punch Man is one of the funniest, most entertaining things I've seen. I've also enjoyed Vinland Saga (I still need to finish it), and many others.

And of course most of the Studio Ghibli titles have been great. I just rewatched Princess Mononoke the other day, it holds up incredibly well for being 25+ years old.

The thing I like about anime is, as a "westerner", it really is delightfully weird in many ways, pushes the envelope in others, and has become really self-aware to the point it's almost an art form the way it dances between borderline fourth-wall shattering obviousness and subtle tongue-in-cheek references.

@nepu7supastar7: What I mean to say is that there is such a high volume of the stuff that it would take some time and dedication to really determine what is good in it. As with most mediums, I’m sure that 90-95 percent of it is middling to lousy. If you enjoy it, that’s great. I don’t judge you or anyone else for liking it. My brother in law and his wife watch anime and read manga almost daily to wind down in the evenings.

Perhaps you don't know this, but Nausicaa started out as a manga. It's got much more to it than the anime.

@DEVILinIRON: I didn’t know, and that’s one of my favorite Ghibli films, my sixth favorite to be exact. My wife and I ranked them all after we watched them all a few years back.

At one point, I didn’t care for graphic novels or comic books either, and now I enjoy them. I got into them like two years ago. Stuff like All-Star Superman, Return of the Dark Knight, The Watchmen, and Dr. Strange: The Oath are well written and have great art.

Maybe I’ll give manga a chance one day too. Now’s just not the time that it’s on my radar.

Did you checkout the vending machines? I hear you can buy many different things from them. Welcome back btw!

Thanks mate! I already miss Japan.

There's a vending machine in every street corner and train station. Sometimes in buildings too. Mostly drinks but also snacks and ice-cream. Along with convenience stores in every block you never run out of stuff to try.
