Here is a link to a 30 minute demonstration of windows 8.

IMO I really think this will suck for gamers. It looks like microsoft is trying to recreate the ipad for all computers.

Would you buy it? Why and why not? What features do you think it will have that will improve on windows 7, or do you think it will be another vista(failure).

You do know that there are different modes. For desktop computers, windows 8 can and will look almost exactly like windows 7 with desktop icons, system tray and the start menu.

I think I'll stop using XP when there's something actually wrong with it. Though I reckon when that happens I'll move over to linux since I'll have to get used to a new operating system anyway.

It seems like a greater push towards OS integration/interaction between several different types of hardware. It seems pretty ambitious but if they can pull it off, it might just be the next big thing.

I think its great, I like the design, and this is just going to make Windows even stronger and more unified. But this doesnt effect gamers in the slightest.... you realize that touch interface is optional right?

I won't be the first to get it but who knows, I may have to get it down the road. I'll use the Windows icons and menu bars if I do get it.

I'm glad they allow you to use different looks but it is a little strange that Microsoft and Apple are using smart phone OS on their computers

I won't get it straight away but will get it eventually. Windows 7 put my faith back into Microsoft. I can't understand why there are still people using XP though. It's so outdated. Are they just too scared too upgrade or do they think they're somehow better for using an ancient (in computer terms) OS?

I assume that you don't game on your PC. Most games are moving away from supporting XP. Battlefield 3 drops compatibility for it completely.

Yeah. It's seems like it's all about touch screens now. Around 15:40 he showed the desktop version for half a minute, I believe. But the camera angle made it difficult to see how it was compared to Windows 7.

What I meant about windows 8 is that it's basicly as ipad. With a windws 7 app on it. Windows had a great thing going on and now they're trying to copy apple. And there isn't a tablet version, as he said it's all one version of windows, looks the same but he mainly shows it using the tablet. When he showed the desktop version it really didn't look that good, it's like taking the great mobility of having the touch screen away. Imagine if you have an ipod touch or an ipad, now instead of having a touch screen, put a mouse in there. I don't want to "diss" it too much but unless it presents something that doesn't look like apple rip off crap I'm not going to buy it. If I wanted an ipad I would buy one.

I think the idea is nice but as long as it has an option to run like Windows 7 with the taskbar and all that, I will just run it that way.

As long as they don't design it around touch screen technology for the desktop, I don't care. **** touchscreens for desktops, I'll use my keyboard and mouse thank you very much.

Agreed. Otherwise, I'll just stick with Windows 7.

I usually skip a generation, so I'll more than likely wait for Windows 9. I would go full time Linux, but there's some windows programs that I can't compute without.

Meh, hate that they are designing it for tablets as well. Should just make Window Phone 7 compatible with tablets and keep Windows 8 desktop only. Still not going to upgrade to Windows 8 regardless, after Vista, I'm just going to wait and see.
