What does it mean when she says "awkward timing"?

Theres this girl Ive known for a long time. I know for a fact that shes interested in me because she told me, and I told her too blah blah blah. We hooked up one night a few weeks ago, and I was gonna ask her out. But before I did, I asked her how she would see "us". She said she wanted to spend more time so our past friendship wouldnt be ruined if something bad happened. We did spend a couple of nights and few days together, but we never did anything, just kiss when she came and left with her friends from wherever we were. She was really nice to me all the time though, and being all flirty and stuff...

Recently she's been avoiding me (aka the past week). She wont call me or meet up with me. She says she likes me but Im driving her crazy. She says that things might not work because of "awkward timing". I was gonna ask her out a month ago. But she said she wantd to get closer first...and now it sounds like awkward timing means "youre keeping me waiting" or "i changed my mind" or "theres another guy".

So whats up? What does she mean? I told her how I feel and i asked her to tell me but she just sends these vague responses that Im expected to decipher. What is up with her????

This is now a serious thread. I say you pound on her door and force her to explain herself.

"Awkward timing" definitely means something else - but you'll have to ask her to explain it. It's some nonsense she made up to avoid telling you what's really bothering her.

I'd like to point out that this inability to communicate is a pretty significant strike against her. You need to decide if you like her enough to put up with these kinds of games. Otherwise, I'd say back off, and try to reclaim your friendship before you take the intimate part of your relationship any further. You may find that she's a better friend when she's NOT your girlfriend.

yeah im guessing it does mean something else. And she has been playing these games for about a week. Not calling then saying something very direct, then more code.... I try to tell her to tell me, but she doesnt, shell just talk about something else. Im gonna try to be friends with her and wait for this to blow over, sounds like thats best.

Well you have two choices then either let her go, or try and compete with the guy. If you choose the second option then try and find out why she likes him or what you can do to counter him.

Yeah dude, I already posted this, but I told her earlier today, after I made this topic, "I give up hahahah. Obviously theres something going on. Lets just be better friends for a longer time and see where it goes k?" And to that she said "Sounds like a plan, and we definitely need to be better friends first" then winked.

Im guessing she likes the fact that I dont really care if she wants to be with me anymore. Which I usually pretend to do with girls in the beginning, but now I barely care. It seems girls go after guys who barely want them... I was nice as heck to her in the beginning, but now I honestly gave up.

No more code. If she wants to be with me, Im sure shell find me. And I know now that her telling me she was busy, out with friends, or had to work instead of seeing me really meant just that. When she was really really into me all we did during weekdays was homework at the library, quick coffee after school, and talk after 11pm, meaning she actually was preoccupied. Weekends was basically the same, but I would see her at night instead of her calling...

If she cares shell come. If not, Ive got another pretty girl as a close friend.
