'video games' was pretty cool when it came out. 2 bad she couldnt live up to the hype with 'born to die.' i doubt ldr cares that it tanked though considering tumblr girls literally worship her.
I feel as if I should like her, but something isn't working. I couldn't get through the album. I like her voice well enough, but the actual music is just standard pop fare. Big meh to her lyrics too, and I'm usually not a lyrics person.

All I saw in that Nicki video was a generic black female singer, you've got millions of those.
Lana is by no means an exeptional singer but she is quite unique in her rather large vocal range and how she can fly through various timbres with little effort, as well as being quite good at putting emotion into her singing.
It's quite sad that she is such a second rate songwriter and lyricist. She and Adele could really be amazing if they would elevate themselves above popular music and go into jazz and blues waters.
