They put a cap because there isn't really a scale for a "10" computer yet, but they probably won't ever update the scale until the next Windows release lol. The scores in Vista are capped at 5.9.

I dunno about Windows 7, but for Vista it's rated at a 5.3. Utter nonsense, especially considering the rest of the scores are 5.9 (processor), 5.7 (RAM), 5.9 (2D graphics), and 5.9 (3D graphics).

Don't use that as a judge of performance use PC mark or 3d mark instead.Other accepted methods are encoding times and benchmarks from games but they don't tend to stress your components as evenly. I think i get 5.9 on vista.

Its based on the lowest score... change your harddrive if you want a better score...

A computer is a system and so is only as weak as it's weakest component. The final score is the lowest in your system as it should be.

You have to use RAID0, a high speed drive (10k raptor or 15k cheetah) or an SSD to get 5.9 on HD

You honestly think I haven't thought of that? I haven't found a hard drive yet that will fit it. Or rather, one that would be cost-effective and would actually increase its score. Besides, as I said, it's utter nonsense. The score is simply a subjective rating of the computer hardware. There are far better tests out there, like the industry standard "try to play the game you've owned for nearly a year and haven't been able to play due to the crap computer(s) you had before" test, more succinctly called the "Supreme Commander" test.

I did it with my Mac at work and a screen popped up and told me that since I'm using a Mac I'm automatically above the useless drivel of Windows 7 and that I should not come down from my lofty elitist perch for anyone unless they have a lanyard around their neck and want to sell me an iPod. Then, it automatically billed my credit card $400 so I can get the next iPod before it's been announced. It was weird.

No u don't....A good quality 7200.11 or 7200.12 Seagate gets a 5.9 on vista and a 6.3 on 7.

on vista, a 3.2, because of my video card, which is an old model. Luckily, it hasn't caused any problems yet.
