Looking to find the generally held opinion on when someone is skinny.

What height and weight?

Example: I'm 5' 10.5" and weigh 160 lbs, (EDIT: with an average frame size) (and around 10% body fat percentage) Am I skinny?

For fun, you could also throw your height and weight into the mix.

EDIT: It seems like a lot of people are answering this question from a medical point of view, and that's not what I'm looking for. I'm using "skinny" as the word that describes the unattractive trait.

Also, a lot of people are saying it depends on frame size. Let's assume that for our skinny-or-not equation that we're dealing with a person of average frame size.

Height and weight don't (within reason). Build does. People have different sized frames.

Healthy male body doesn't not need to be at 19%. You can be at 10% and still be healthy..

I think that frame takes a back seat to height and weight (within reason) when it comes to being considered skinny, generally speaking anyway.

I'm just looking for a general range of when someone's skinny. We don't need to get too technical.

So you never heard of a male with a body fat % less than ten who wasn't skinny? Muscle is a factor too, you know

I'm 5'11 and weigh 174lbs, and I'm considered not even 'relatively' skinny, yet I'm told I look thinner than I should.

It depends on frame and people's perceptions.

I don't really see skinny that way. I'd say a guy with a muscular build.. and a low body fat percent.. was in fact skinny.. it depends how you define the word. Anything less than 6% body fat is technically unhealthy. Even though elite athletes and certain people do have body fat percents less than 6%.. fat is necessary for the human body to function.

I'm using "skinny" as the term that describes the unattractive trait. Seems like a lot of people are looking at it like a health question, so I'll edit the OP to clarify my meaning. 7hanks.

According to my height and weight, it sounds like I'd be skinny. But I'm not. I'm all mush and fat so I don't weigh as much as I would if I had more muscle and was actually skinnier. Hence I don't think any specific height and weight indicate skinny-ness.

I'm 5'2" and when I see double digits on the scale then I am skinny. I like to be at least in the 100-103 range. That way the chart and wii fit thinks I'm normal.

28. I used to be skinnier - I've been 6'5" since early high school and was only about 140 or 150 pounds then.

Did you ever try going on a high-protein diet coupled with a weight training regime in an attempt to gain weight? Cause if you haven't I could direct you to a couple of helpful websites.

I think BMI of around 17 is skinny. For instance, I'm 5'11" and 125 lb and consider myself skinny. I also know a 6'0 guy who's around 130 lb. He looks skinnier than me!

It really depends on your build

I knew a guy that was 6'5'' and 180 pounds and he was awful skinny.

my general rule is this:

when a man weighs as much as a healthy female, he is too skinny

when a woman weighs under 100 pounds, she is skinny

it doesnt apply is a lot of cases, but so far its the most accurate
