 Quite original I must admit. I don't do anything particularly, I just stop listening to music, reading or get off the computer and go to bed.

I just force myself to pretty much think of absolutely nothing. Doesn't work well if I am not tired. In which case I do not sleep. An hour or so of Pink Floyd usually does the trick though.

A dark, cool room, with the fan blowing.

Complete silence.. if anybody is making noise any where else in the general area.. I cannot sleep. NO tv on.. no sound what so ever other than the fan.

even if somebody has the tv on in the room next to me.. and I hear it.. it'll keep me up for hours.

Simple. Sleep when I'm sleepy. And get up whenever the circumstance dictates I must get up.

I can sleep during a movie, an earthquake, a bright room with music playing, a party. Noise and lights don't bother me much.

I wonder if our respective tolerances are conditioned? Could I condition myself to need dark and silence with enough of it, or could you condition yourself to lights and sound?

Oh and I HAVE slept through all those things. Lol.

I generally watch videos and fall asleep. Strange though, I sometimes watch NES and it keeps me awake. But PS2 and higher up walkthroughs make me stay more awake. P the videos I watch are ones where close your eyes and you feel like you are in the environment - like a barber shop. I also listen to FF, DQ, and Zelda songs to make me sleep.

I used to be able to sleep with the tv on, so I'm not entirely convinced that's true. I probably could condition myself to sleep under different circumstances, but why do that when it works fine how I do it now?

I simply can't get to sleep for hours unless I have television going in the background. My mind just races non-stop unless it's go something to focus on. So I generally put it on the history channel, set it for an hour or so, and lay there and watch. Usually always asleep before time's up.

Luckily I generally work the later hours and so I can pretty much stay up all night until I feel like passing out. When I need to put myself down though I typically just leave some white noise TV broadcast on that is repetitive such as ESPN Sportsnight or CNN Headline News. If I feel my metabolism is a bit high I generally take some cold medicine to put myself down forcibly although my body adapts and attacks medication so I have to use it sparingly lest it have no effect at all.

Sometimes just taking a few deep breaths. Breathing seems too simple to work, but does the trick for me. And, once I'm asleep, I'm asleep. I mean I can wakeup if someone comes in my room. But for the most part, I have slept thru sonic booms and only knew cause my mom or dad would ask me in the morning if I heard it. =)

At this point it is really a vanity thing...for seem reason I look like hell (as opposed to just looking like heck on a normal basis) if I don't lay in bed for at least 4.5 hours -but at least I get some good thinking/planning done in that time
