I saw this video a couple of days ago and it left me thinking.

that is a ridiculous concept - money is ALWAYS an object - even to Bill Gates or George Soros.

the more you have the more you worry about it

That would be the worst. Without money you can't compare the value of goods. How many oranges would buy a Boeing 747? And then how would those oranges even help Boeing? You also can't compare the value of things over time.

"For all those who continue to read Alan Watts message the wrong way, I will clear it up one final time. Alan Watts is not asking what would you do if money did not exist, what he is asking is what would you do if it was no object. Meaning if it was not the main driving force behind your choice of career. In other words he is saying find a career you actually enjoy instead of wasting your entire life in something you hate. He was giving career advice, not pretending money did not exist.." - The uploader

The more money you receive the more you want. There are a lot of people who live very comfortably who still complain about not having enough money.

I wouldn't work if I had enough money, so money ultimately is the deciding factors as to whether someone works or not.

Oh, in that case, I would join the Marines or Navy. Probably the Marines.

Fantasies of a drugged up utopia. Send all your money to my account and go jump off a bridge.

concept of this topic - it seems like someone read Erehwon for the first time.

the Utopian novels are meaty reading and heavy stuff if you are not prepared.

only in an idealized world where everone acts selflessly would this work which is why socialist and communist forms of governing have always failed from the top down where the criminal element and greed is the most pervasive.

also consider Plato's Republic which reads like a great concept until you discover that the bulk of the work in the Greek society was done by slave labour which freed up the citizenry to do as they pleased.

Ayn Rand is worshipped by many people who read through for the first time and go yay it is a good thing to a selfish mean bastard.

so it is no surpise she has a dedicated core group of followers and defenders who worship the Me First at all costs ideal.

There has to be some form of exchange. If there wasn't money, we'd go back to the bartering days.
