What if prisoners fought our wars?

im sure theyd prefer it to serving time in jail, and given the fact these guys usually do nothing but workout and fight and thirst for blood theyd probably do better than the soldiers in combat.

i know its more complicated than im making it out to be, what if theyd try escaping, or turn on eachother/their superiors? forget all that, cause those are the most obvious responses i am expecting.

of course they would have to be castrated first but its better than pretending prison is doing them any form of rehabillitation.

I don't think giving prisoners military training is a good idea.

yes lets give the ppl we put in prison weapons...why dont u just go ahead and put a gun in their hand and tell them to shoot u . it would be faster and have the same end result

well the US would lose because the people from prisons in other countires would be outstandly tougher

no thanks, I'd rather stay in jail and alive for 20 years than risk getting killed and have a chance of parole in 5.

Interesting idea but I don't think that could ever work. Its not a good idea to have psychotic serial killers serve in our military and fight our wars.

This could work...if explosive collars were employed.

Then whenever any convicts do wrong, they could just set off the collar.

I believe we should bring back arena fighting. People against the death penalty believe in "second chances" lets them fight there way out. Set number of victories and you are out. A modern coliseum would be amazing!

I don't think it is a good idea to arm convicts. No matter what.

There's more to being a soldier than physical fitness, hand to hand combat, and "thirst for blood," whatever that means. A soldier foremost has to be disciplined. The military is an organization much more highly organized and regimented than regular society. Criminals do not possess the discipline or forward-thinking to get along in the normal world. I do not think that criminals would automatically make good soldiers.

I thougtht this "prisoners make great soldiers" idea was bad in Dune too.

You would HAVE to find a way to tie them to your country to ensure they don't go off with your guns and start doing their own crap. Problem is, the only way to do that is to grant pardons, and do you have any idea what would happen if you put trained and battle-scarred criminals on the streets?
