When You go to download something, in firefox, you get a Download window and whatever your downloading appears. However, when you close the actual browser the download window doesn't always stay open and so you've just lost what you've been downloading for the last few minuites, and I can't open it again to continue downloading it.

This also happens sometimes if you go to do other things in the browser or on your computer, the download window suddenly loses what was in it, what's up with that? Firefox's download manager's dodgy as heck. Anyone else noticed this happening to them?

Cheers

Well, if you close Firefox, one would assume that would close the download manage in Firefox... :|

Also, you can see all of your previous downloads by going to Tools > Downloads.

Try using some add-ons like "download them all"(I think) ... but Ive really never had this problem... try setting it up so it opens the downloads in a new tab.

I haven't had that problem, ever. Do you have your privacy settings set to remember your downloads? Did you try Ctrl + J? Is FireFox set to clear your download history automatically when you close the browser?

Cheers for the responses fellas, it's OK I've just got Downthemall as an add-on Download manager and it is fantastic. It even speeds up some of my downloads.

Normally my 2Mb/s cable broadband from Virgin Media caps Downloads at 240Kb/s, even if the server should download at 2-3 times that speed, which is about right anyway, but I've seen Down them al do it at about 280-290Kb/s which is great for a download manager to do to your downloads.

Thanks guys anyway

HA-HA! IE Triumphs!

But seriouly, IE has been fine for me... and Opera seems to hate me, and never tried FF! :o

So i've stuck by the one that never gave me problems! ;)

there tend to be a lot of bugs in IE, so hackers and keyloggers can easily get your passwords. I personally have never had trouble with that when surfing the internet with either browser, but I trust FF more than IE.

Gay? In what sense? You aren't forgetting Safari are you, that's a gay browser, has very few add-ons, very loose securtity ,Opera's an alternative to Firefox, Chrome is good to.
