yeah sure they take some pain in fakeness as well, i ain't watching to see wrestlers getting hurt, nope their pain is not the enjoyment, rather good vs evil and better gimmicks is all i care for, undertaker in current situation is no where near the old one, but thats understandble as he is aging, but i think its hard to create legends from the current selection of wrestlers, new wrestlers to be precise such as cena, i do not think he is that good, he is good but not that to be a legend sort of character.GRANDSLASHER27

It's picking up a little bit on the lead-up to 'Mania, but there any still many things still lacking. Smackdown bores the hell out of me, and most of the matches, are too short and boring. I'd like to see matches like the old RVD vs Jerry Lynn matches from ECW (watch the 'One of a Kind' DVD), like Kurt Angle vs, well, anyone really. There's very few people today who can put on the matches The Rock, Angle, Jericho, Stone Cold, and Bret Hart used to put on. HHH, HBK, and The Undertaker still put on good to great matches, and guys like Edge and Orton (two of the business' best heels IMO), Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, MNM (in particular Johnny Nitro), The Hardy's (in particular Jeff), and CM Punk are capable of putting together excellent programmes, and have done so in the past. So why aren't they doing it. Edge, Carlito, Benjamin, Nitro, Jeff Hardy, and Punk should be put in the Money in the Bank match. It would be match of the night, especially if given time to perform (something the WWE isn't all that capable of lately). They should look back to the Attitude era, and the old ECW era, to see what worked. That's when Wrestling was red hot. Maybe all they need is some (real) competition (TNA isn't quite there yet - we don't get much of it in Oz, only tape-delay PPV's), and searching the Independant's for some new talent (and watching the matches that they are in to see what they do well)
And one more thing, the 'new' 'ECW' (it's hasn't got a patch on the original, just watch the ONS PPV's, especially 2005). It's taken this long to get any sort of program going (with the New vs Old storyline, although they did have the 'Heyman is God' angle for a while). On appearance, and from some reports, Vince is intent on destroying the legacy of ECW, and the talent that built the original, and rebuilding it in his own 'Sports Entertainment' vision. There is no real 'wrestling' show anymore, because it's all 'Sports Entertainment'. I like the talking and promos ie. Edge/Orton, DX, the heel Cena, The Rock, Jericho, Christian, Angle, and Carltio (sometimes), but to an extent, these spots have taken the place of a good, long match (not the 5 minute garbage they use now). Also, they spent so much building up CM Punk, but come December to Dismember, they started to bury him. First one eliminated in the Chamber, then losing to chumps like Hardcore Holly and Matt Striker. The ticket to 'Mania and MitB should be great, but maybe they should put him on Raw, because unless they're going to put him in the title picture, he is wasted in 'ECW'. Put him in matches with HBK, Flair, Hardy, Nitro, Edge, or Carlito, and we'd see some fantastic matches, especially if given 20+ minutes to perform.
I know this post really didn't have much structure, but it's just a bit of a rant I'm on after watching my DVD's (like the Undertaker's, RVD's, and the ECW one's), and noticing there's something missing from those good old days.
Note: I haven't seen much TNA, but I try to keep up with the goings on the 'Net, and it does seem interesting (plus what I saw back a few years ago was really good). But they need to grow to become close to a threat to Vince. I wish more of it was on Australian TV so I could actually watch it.
exor pal, i too have been watching it from 92 or 93 onwards, and i agree with you, but age crisis will always be a major factor for any wrestler, i mean sooner or later the unertaker would be retiring, so its about bringing/creating new legends/icons from the available roster or from newer talents should be checked out.
lets check the facts, there were around 29 thousand fans when undertaker vs undertaker match was held, now the average fans are harldy around 20 thousand even at ppv events, now thats a fact worth noticing.
i am from India but most of you must be from us and other western countries and must be aware of the decreasing entertainment in wrestling. i personally think mcmahon and family is as good as freaks.
overall i think majority of us will agree with the fact that competition could make wrestling decent, otherwise its the same stuff over and over again.
