Is there ever truly a shortage of people who are willing to work and create for the greater good? Are we all truly incapable of feeding the mouths of starving children, without money? Why does this economic creation dictate our lives to the point of despair? Was the Great Depression necessary? As far as I'm aware, there never really was a shortage of resources, at least food. It more so had to do with this "creation", and those who adhere to it even if it means the end for many innocent people. Why are there starving children all over the world? Simple. There doesn't seem to be much of a monetary award for helping them. Our whole economic system is fueled on the basis of explicit greed, and indifference to those who have failed to succeed within this system. Maybe this is why everything falls apart.

I'm not here for abolishing the system, maybe changing it. Ultimately, I'm only here to address the faults of it. And in some jobs you get payed a crap load more to be pretty, than you would if you were a police officer or a firemen.

Money is almost imaginary, but its the how we place value on things. Money itself is not the problem, its how we use it.

Money is nothing but a symbol of value used to make financial transactions easier. Ridding the world of money wouldn't help feed the world because we would still exist in a world of finite resources.

I would love to, unfortunately it would take me quite a while to write it down. And with all due respect, I don't think there's anyone here that can do a single thing about it. Even if we had a concrete plan. It would take a bloody revolution.

Money is simply a standard unit of measurement of value in the same way a meter is a standard unit of measurement if length. It could be anything (and in the past has been things including paper, gold, and stone discs) - However, it really needs to be difficult to counterfeit to be effective.

Essentially, the purpose of money is to allow one to exchange goods or services with another without the requisite of giving the provider the specific good or service he/she wants. For example, if you want to purchase a pie from a baker and the baker wants a steak in exchange for that pie, you'd either need to be butcher (lucky you, in that case) or find a butcher to get a steak from to buy that pie.

To be fair that's a problem in our current system as well, there are many jobs which are very hard to do yet they don't pay as much.

I don't think I could be more explicit than this: "I'm not here to demand a perfect world. But I'm not just about to let go of the idea that the world could be a much better place, either." I think what we allow the system to get away with, needs changing. Obviously there's something wrong when a single individual has millions of dollars in his or her pocket, while someone else is getting by on 7 dollars an hour. And there are far too many people who get denied medical attention, far too many people starving to death, and far too many people who just don't give a **** about anything else but themselves and their humble abode. The world needs to get its head out of their ass.

I guess I was looking for something more concrete. I talk to a lot of people with idealistic notions of getting rid of current systems (monetary or otherwise), but have no idea about what that system would be replaced with. I guess I've just grown tired of discussing pure ideology with no proposed application.

The proposed application is a far more balanced system that builds upon the current one. The successor to the progenitor, if you will. Is not the concept of improvement familiar to you?

Would you just give some details about what you think would be better rather than give vague notions of improvement? What would the improvements be? How would they be more balanced? How would the system cope with supply and demand?

Crimany, I'm aware of "the concept of improvement". Can you provide information on the proposed improvements?

First, the basics: Food, water, shelter, education and medical attention for everyone, AND for free. If you want anything else, you're going to have to earn it with your otherpaycheck. Second, a much higher emphasis in education. Also, a police officer should accompany a teacher in the teaching process to scare the crap out of children. Furthermore, there need to be cameras in each, and every room. We need to focus on making the average human much more intelligent than they currently are. We need to teach everyone to watch each others back. We are all in this together, no one deserves to get left behind. Then the law system needs to be refined; there should be no stupid idiots suing McDonalds because they were careless and spilled hot coffee on themselves. And finally, make things a little more fair. Why the hell do those famous musicians and actors need so much ****ing money? **** that. I support a cap on much an individual can make in one year. They aren't the president, and while I commend them for their great acting skills, once again, they aren't the god damn president. Hell, they aren't even a doctor or a police officer. That's just a sample. If I were to outline the whole thing, it would take me several hours.

They make that much money because of Supply and Demand. It's the consumers who ultimately choose who makes money and who doesn't. Your understanding of economics is seriously skewed. Take a basic econ class and you're whole "utopia" BS will disappear from your mind. Guaranteed.

Money is the root of all evil. Just look behind your dollar. There's an illuminati.

I've already taken an economics class, it doesn't change my opinion that the situation could be a whole lot better. If you want to accept the world as it is, it will never evolve.
