Goldfinger or GoldenEye. I'd like to add that I can't stand the Roger Moore Bond films. Moore is just so...not Bond IMO.

Same. It's like Adam West as Batman. He's kind of Batman in that yes, he played him, but he's so silly it's hard to take the character seriously when Moore is Bond.

From Russia with Love. That or License to kill.

Film-Guy

License to Kill was surprisingly decent, except for a few things, like friggin ninjas jumping out of nowhere, trucks dodging rockets, and "head popping".

I would say Goldfinger and From Russia with Love are probably the best that I've seen.

Roger Moore was the most perverted Bond, and I thought he had the best one-liners. He was a pretty boy, and way too old in the last couple of films.. but still a great James Bond IMO.

In response to the topic- I think it's a tie between Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Live and Let Die, The Living Daylights, and Casino Royale (2006). On Her Majesty's Secret Service was also very good.

Roger Moore and Sean Connery both auditioned for the role at the same time.

The decision was given to the executive producer's wife.:P

She thought Sean was a slight bit sexier.:P

Thus it followed that when Sean stopped, Moore would take over the role, per her wishes.

That's a great story. But don't forget that Moore wasn't the guy who took over as Bond when Connery left the first time. George Lazenby was the 2nd Bond in the official series. :)

Fortunately, that was just for one film.

tbh, I always thought that Connery and Moore portrayed Bond the best.

I think that all of the actors who have played Bond have done a decent job, and have had at least one good film. And I think that with the exception of Connery, the first film that each played Bond in was their best. Lazenby only did 1 (I think he did a great job BTW). For Moore it was Live and Let Die (IMO his best), for Dalton it was The Living Daylights, for Brosnan Goldeneye, and for Craig Casino Royale.

I can agree with that.

I don't know about Moore, but I was glad that Connery never was typecast as Bond...he did a great job in Highlander, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Hunt for Red October, and as Indiana Jones' father.

Connery has been in so many great movies. You mentioned several of them.. I also loved him in The Untouchables, Rising Sun, First Knight, The Rock, and Entrapment. Really the only other actor to have played Bond AND gained widespread notoriety in the US for other roles is Pierce Brosnan. Daniel Craig still could, but I don't really see it happening on the same scale. He's just a pure toughguy Bond.

I agree...I've yet to see a film with Connery that I didn't like. Did you know he was offered the role of Gandalf, but declined it due to "not understanding the script"? He was offered 15% of the worldwide box office receipts, which could have earned him $400 million.:o

Same situation with LoEG, but he accepted that role anyway.:P
