Between either:
1. Enormous lightning strike right by my apartment in the middle of the night. The accompanying thunder scared the s*** out of me. Thunderstorms never bother me... I love them... but this was so goddamn f***ing loud... I've never been so scared in my life... I mean only for a split second, but f***. For the entire day afterwards, if someone or something made a loud-ish noise, I'd freak out... like I had mini-PTSD or something.
2. I had to get to my plane across the tarmac, and there was a business jet just chilling, between me and my plane.... and it was doing run-ups or something before taxiing... I didn't want to go around the front so I just walked right behind it and the engines. Couldn't hear anything for a while after that. :P
3. Supersonic wind tunnel at my university that we used for a few compressible flow experiments. I actually have no idea just how loud it was since I had to wear ear protection. But it sounded loud!
[QUOTE="thriteenthmonke"]Shuttle launch. FPSunionOWNSwow, i always wanted to hear what that actually sounded like. I haven't been to a shuttle launch in about a decade, at least not very close. As far as I remember, the sound wasn't the highlight. In around 1998/99, when I was still a kid, I went to a night launch. Everything light up brighter than 12pm sun for a short while. Absolutely phenomenal thing.

As loud as a nuke explosion? :o
I think so. It set the house alarm off. Nukes would do that.An electricity box in my street exploded once. That or when I stood next to a speaker for an entire Justice Crew performance. Couldn't hear for like 2 days.
Having some fighter jets flying right above me at an airshow. I was just walking around some displays and then I see a plane pass overhead and think; "Oh wow, I wonder when the noise is going to hi-"KA ****ING BOOMHSGFDLAEWFHEWI.." My organs felt like they had been rattled around.
Transformer on a utility pole blew up. topsemag55Oh god yeah. That is also loud. I have been around a few of them blowing up. I am no longer sure which I consider louder. The Dynamite or a transformer blowing.

2200 bhp ''funny car'' doing a burnout right next to me. As an added bonus I also got hot bits of rubber/asphalt all over me.
A god damn hand greneade crashed through a window and exploded in my kitchen. It was War. It scared the crap out of me.
Stood directly underneath the speaker at a concert, my hearing in one ear was muffled for two days following. I think I may have permanently damaged my hearing.
