Hello OT users, what's your favorite Operating System?

I know lots of people hate Vista, but I use it and i have had really good luck with it.

Vista with the latest Service packs is just fine. All of the stigma comes from a release that was really unfinished. Having said that, I think Windows 7 is fantastic and the best so far.

Windows XP is not all that bad, its kind of bland now that I have been using Vista for the past 3 or 4 days. Plus Vista helps optimise my 56k internet so posting on Game Spot is quite fast now compaired to when I did use XP

I use W7 for games and Linux-Mint for everything else. Day-to-day computing on anything other then linux feels...odd.

Ugh. I was at a friends house who had 56k and it's totally unusable. I wanted to smash everything in his house after 5 minutes of waiting for a page to load. :P

Windows 7 for home, Linux for school. Although, the Linux is purely BASH command prompt because the school chose to use openSuse since the admin doesn't know what the **** he's doing.

Never used 7, so Vista is the best I've used. You never notice the difference between windows until your hard drive breaks and you have to go back.

my page load time is suprisingly fast. it took less than 3 seconds to load this page even with the new posts. I make sure to save my cookies so my computer can remembe where it's been and my page load time is quite quick. Now going to new websites is a pain in the ass. But with 56k internet cookies is like gold. It also helps that I have the signatures turned off. I keep on the avatars because its my way of identifying a user.

I wouldn't be able to use it. I constantly have 3, 4 tabs open with different pages loading...and YouTube is always open. Like being offered crack, 56k is an instant "No way!" from me.

I don't have any experience with today's Vista, but Windows 7 was far more optimized that Vista when it first came out. They got rid of a lot of the bloatware that had infested the OS. They also fixed a lot of the compatibility issues that plagued Vista at the time. Vista was rushed out to compete with Mac.

Yeah You Tube is deffenatly out of the question for 56k :P. But i live in a very rural area where there's no cable service or even low quality DSL. You bet your ass I would be using high speed if I had it avaiable to me. I don't have much problems with keeping 3 of 4 tabs open at a time. I just make sure that they all load at different times. If you really know how to use 56k right its not too bad. I just wish I could play XBL or PSN, and i always get bummed when I see videos posted.

This is very true, but it has been well optimized since SP2 onwards. 7 is still better, but there isn't nearly as big of a difference now between 7 and Vista than when Vista first came out.

Im using an older version of Vista, infact it came from a Lap Top my friend had. He had made a back up copy of it. Fully legal too. But I haven't had any problems with Vista. Its all up to date but im pretty sure my copy of Vista is quite dated. I got a dual core Del Dimension9100 with 3gb of RAM. And it all runs smooth for me. I don't know what my processer is running at but its much better than my old single core 3.2 pentitum d. That damn mb didn't even have USB 2.0 and I had to use a card in the back. Wich was quite inconvient.

If it's fully updated, then you're not using an older version of Vista. You're using the latest version which, according to cybercatter, is fine.

Oh okay, im not too up to date on computer software and operating systems. I love how im using a OS made for a Lap Top. Something my one friend told me wouldn't work too well. But my other friend who I bought this computer from wasn't quite sure how it would work either. But thankfully everything is smooth and runs well.

Windows 7 is my favorite. That said, we also have Vista, OSX (Tiger and Leo), XP, Linux Mint, and Amiga OS (both classic and the Linux-based remake) at home.
