I can personally say I've never been taught Creationism in school.

In 6th grade, I lived in Pennsylvania. Nope, not taught it there.

In 7th, 8th grade I lived in Northern VA. Not taught it there also.

In 9th, 10th grade I lived in Seoul Korea, going to a DoD school. Wasn't taught it even on an Army fort!

And in 11th, 12th grade, I lived in Northern VA again, and I still haven't been told at all about Creationism.

So who actually has been taught Creationism in school? I know that my teachers taught evolution, ever since 7th grade when it first came up. I don't think that Creationism should be taught at all in school.

If it has been taught to you, please state where you live also.

They thought it in religion class :P

I went to a catholic school and all they said is God made the world but didn't really get into details. And religion class in catholic school is more about teaching their value than the religion itself.

I learned about creationism through Church, not school. I was only taught evolution in school. I am a creationist though.

It's usually used to refer to Youth Earth Creationism. The belief that all was made in 6 days in it's present form ~6,000-20,000 years ago by God.

And I went to a public school so of course they taught evolution.

I never heard it one time, I've lived in Georgia my whole life.

I don't think it should be taught only because it, along with evolution, is theory and not fact.

Never taught where I live (New Mexico). I think everything they teach for the creation of the universe has to be based on the scientific method, whereas the creationist approach is mainly speculation and faith. This is why evolution and the big bang are taught, because there is observable evidence.

It was changed to ID. ID is mostly the same as creationism. Both have been shown in court to be solely religious and have no place in the science classroom.

He didn't start anything, other than a topic about were creationism has popped up in schools. No one has even mentioned or tried to start a religious debate...

Just answer what he asked if you need to post in his topic.... Or at least be polite...

(and to answer, nope, creationism hasn't been attempted in schools I've been in so far.)

Edit: ....Oh. My schools are in Canada.

You realize there is actually quite a bit of science behind creationism, plus it explains in a better light, it makes more since. Like the dinosaurs, they didnt turn into little birdies in sonic the hedgehog, the died because of the effects of the flood. Plus what kind of accident suddenly creates male/female creatures? Evolution is just plain wacky, if evolution was true males would have developed female reproductive systems because of homosexuals.

Evolution is not science because it can not be studied, creationism can and has been studied. Evolution is only a theory at best, how can you study billions of years ago, or even really study that we came from goo. Which no one knows that actually happened, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE IT EVER OCCURED. Here is why, because no one was around back then, can't study it because nothing could of, there would be no traces because it occured billions of years ago. Plus evolution constantly changes their beliefs/theories, basically they dont know either, but since evolutionist dont believe in god they dont want to except that god created the earth. I lol at the big bang seriously, I wonder what it would of been like to make something like that up.

And about catholicism teaching evolution and creationism, that they come hand to hand means that catholicism is not christian. I dont get why religion should not be taught in school, what do they fear that people will be too convinced? I am talking about the creationist ideas, the evidence behind creationism versus the evidence behind evolution. I thought schools were supposed to teach, not shove a singular idea down everyones throats, oh wait that is right, public schools dont care about teaching. It is just a simple game to bound people to an area in their childhood, so they can rush evolutionism into childrens minds, bash any idea about god.

think about it http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evolution%20Hoax/evolution-not_science.htm open your closed minds, evolutionist are the most closed minded that I have ever heard of. You could argue that i am closed-minded towards evolution, but it is not the same see I thought about it, the real only way you would believe it is if you wanted to... Because you dont want to believe in anything else.

Wait, never mind evolution is just undeniable we came randomly, two little particles magically blew up for some reason, I really am a monkey even though if monkeys evolved into humans.... Why are they still around? Because they claim birds were once dinosaurs, so how come there are no dinosaurs, oh yeah they all got wiped out by a meteor which would of killed all life forever if that happened. because the dust would of blotted out the sun. See the flood definately damaged the atmosphere of the Earth, but not how a meteor would of. Lol I am evolving my 2nd toe is bigger than my fat toe holy crap, no wait that is a defect on me. Yeah some goo was layying around the sun shined on it, and somehow creatures starting sprouting from the goo, it somehow made itself grow legs (millions of years it discovered the ingredients behind legs). Then got out of the ocean even though it did not know how to get food, or what food was, but yet it did things without a real brain.

ok enough with the sarcasm lets face it, how would this goo even eat, nothing was around, the earth was barren. The earth was just a big pointless thing, why plants? Why pigs, what the hell would want to be a pig, yeah evolutionist, you got a lot to truely explain.

or

we can just accept that god made it because it really makes no since that nothing could suddenly become all this, my xbox360 is on, it had a creator, bill gates lol. Technology does not evolve by itself, it needs someone intelligent enough to do make it.

I went to a Christian kindergarten that taught creationism, but I challenged the teacher's assertion that dinosaurs lived 5000 years ago. I already knew that they lived 65 million years ago, and needless to say he was pretty baffled that such a young kid was presenting him actual scientific evidence to refute his lesson. Once my parents caught wind of the creationism aspect, they quickly pulled me out.

Well, not really. I could easily imagine it.

Kid one: "What created the world/universe/earth?"

Teacher: "Well, a long time ago, God created everything in 6 days. He created the first people, Adam and Eve."

Kid: :o!

So yeah, easy to comprehend. Easy to teach.

I took a world religion class my first semester freshman year so that is kind of like creationism. It was a mandatory class, but I agree with the idea behind doing that. Everyone should at least have to have a reasonable understanding of the different religions, or you will forever be doomed to only half of the picture.

where as you are correct in the statement that its not 100% fact is is heavily supported by fact, hence the reason its given the title of theory, where as creationism isnt because its backed by faith not facts. but i think it has no place in a science class room. sure you can teach it but not in say a biology class

Seriously you where that young and could understand everything they said? So the translation is that your parents taught you to hate god at an early age, brainwashed you to believe in evolution.... This sounds like one of my cousins, he doesnt even know the evidence of evolution, just believes in it. Heck I was five and they said there was a god, but did not say evolution was wrong.

What? Are you really asking that? Evolution is not science, honestly sir I dont think your thinking about what I just said, your so pro evolution, that you wont even consider what a creationist like me says. Way to be closed minded

Creationism has a lot of facts behind it, it even said the earth was round before people actually discovered it was round, lol people should of just read the bible instead of using a bunch of devices to find out themselves. Noahs arc was found

You, you can. See, you hate the idea of someone being "closed-minded" and refuting everything you say without evidence... when there is evidence for evolution. You're the closed-minded one, and I'm afraid you can't come to grips with that because you think that believing in evolution somehow negates the idea of a creator, when it does not. That is, unless you're a fundamentalist, to which I have to say: get out of the dark ages.

I didn't understand everything that was said, of course, but even at that age I was able to logically deduce that young earth creationism didn't make sense, seeing as it's incongruent with valid scientific evidence. I can tell from your other posts that argument would induce many facepalms, so I'll just say that based off of universally accepted scientific evidence, I accept the theory of evolution as a valid explanation for the development of life, and reject the unsubstantiated basis of creationism for its lack thereof.

This is not true.It is said that god told Noah to bring in every single animal...Which means that he'd have to get the dinosaurs.(if they existed back when Noah was around). There should be no reason that Noah wouldnt bring in the dinosaurs in his ark unless there was no more room in the ark or Noah just got lazy...

The dinosaurs dieing in the flood barely makes sense....

If catfish that can breathe air, flying fish, the many slightly varied species of the Galapagos Islands, Neanderthals, Cro-magnon, and the platypus aren't evidence for evolution than I don't know what is. There are many many other species that indeed have traits of both more primitive species and more modern species. There is always the argument that if monkeys involved into humans (which is inaccurate to begin with because humans evolved from apes.) then why are there still monkeys (apes) around. It's invalid because the needs of same species animals differs in different regions, and the environment is what governs change, so they adapt differently. Also upright walking, intelligence, linguistic skills, and the loss of fur are not necessarily the end all adaptations to guarantee adequate survivability of a species.

Uhhh, that was Noah. Also The Old Testament is a series of archetypal stories that were passed down verbally and are most likely to be renditions of older pagan beliefs, you can't take it literally, although many would defend to say it is the very word of God. (With no evidence)

WTF is up your ass you jerk? And I wasn't talking about electives at all. Way to be ignorant.

For starting another one of these types of discussions. If it is of no concern of yours and does not effect you then why make it a issue.

I think he means why the insult against Americans?

You don't even know about creationism and you already feel that it shouldn't be taught in school? Doesn't that seem a little short-minded of you?
