A good number of posts I see on this board are about how society is terrible and how humans have a delusional view of reality. I mean, wtf? Do all of you really think this?yellowandmushy
It's dumb to think that society is perfect, or functional in any way. PEOPLE are evil... A person isn't... When people get together, destruction soon ensues... This is egaturating of course, but you catch my drift.........

Without actually knowing this "Cube_of_MooN" person, I can tell you that he has contributed a lot more to society than "Soulja Boy," could ever hope to.

Yes, I do see humanity and society as terrible, cannibalistic and fascist to some extent. Enforcing conformity leads to nothing but stagnant culture, yet everybody seems pretty content with it. Or at least the people who have power.

No he was not. Hitler was a terrible person. Comparing Soulja Boy to Hitler is just idiotic. Who has Soulja Boy hurt?its not the best analogy, but a lot of people think he is killing rap music, thus ending people's happiness. And really, the Soulja Boy thing was a joke I don't think you picked up on...
No he was not. Hitler was a terrible person. Comparing Soulja Boy to Hitler is just idiotic. Who has Soulja Boy hurt?yellowandmushyIronically, Hitler said the same thing. "We are not harming human beings." That was his entire campaign; that they weren't harming anyone. He was dehumanizing his enemies. But still, comparing soulja boy to Hitler is a stretch. That's not what he was doing, though, he was arguing against popularity. ;)
I can't stand our celeb obsessed pop culture here in society. There are too many problems with our society, ranging from the modern issue of celeb obsession to our insanely outdated portrayals of men and woman that drive our society mad.
It's funny how people go on about how female role models cause bad self esteem and whatnot, yet the male role model is a MUCH BIGGER ISSUE. Not only do you get bad self esteem going around in kids who aren't big and burly, but where do you think the violence in guys comes from? All our heroes are uber violent and as much as I hate to admit it it effects us all to a degree...

Absolutely agree. Great wording. Thats what I meant by "unable to think critically", people are just like sheep how they follow trends/anything that is "in" (which could be anything in the entertainment industry, specifically).

The Soulja Boy thing was a joke to begin with. :P It kind of morphed into something else though...

Even I think that's kind of a stretch... the general "teenage idiocy" you describe could be caused by a lot of different kinds of music or TV shows.

Ofcourse, i just felt it necessary to point out soulja boy since it was relevant to the discussion.

It was. Still, I think society's biggest flaw at the moment is popular culture and celebrities. How do they improve society? Yes, they make good movies, but worshipping them does nothing but bring us down.

And? What's wrong with that? Are these people hurting you by following whatever's 'in' at the moment? Sure, they're being stupid, but if that's how they wish to live their lives, let them. Throughout history, people have always followed the crowd, even if their own opinions differ, simply because no one wants to be a martyr. It's not like you can blame them; I sure as hell don't like being left out in the cold, and I'm sure you don't either.
I'm not going to act like you're wrong; I agree with you. All I'm saying is that conforming isn't that big of a deal, and it's certainly nothing new.

Conforming is a big deal, it prevents potentially good ideas from getting to the top. It creates a culture that goes absolutely nowhere and people who can't think for themselves. And following the crowd is what the Germans did in the 1930's, and the Romans in the 1st century. Oh, did I mention Salem Witch Hunts? Yep, conformism doing its job.

I should've been clearer. I ment teens following whatever's 'in' wasn't a big deal, not just conformism in general.
