inb4 "so much for global warming"
I live in Toronto too and we've basically experienced the entire weather spectrum in the past 2 days. megagene
hah, good way to put it
lol Leafs
Yeah I dunno it's cold where I am too and I don't know why considering it was hot and humid these past few days.Â

I was gonna say, must be an east coaster. I'm in Vancouver, and we just had a weird straight week of close to 30 degree summer days. Suddenly rained hard last night, and it's grey today.
[QUOTE="Aljosa23"]Religion has nothing to do with our politicsZevianderlolwut? Our government was actually founded on Christian values, and there are several MPs that are incredibly religious people who wish to reopen many debates related to abortion and same-sex marriage.Christian values? lol please. Our government was founded on the idea of a monarchy and the country was formed in an effort to create order among North America, among other things. I'm not sure what they teach out West but here we learned that the Fathers of Confederations stuck almost exclusively to Enlightment principles and religion was no motivation.
Those MPs can try whatever they want. It's a non-issue.
Christian values? lol please.Aljosa23It's been a while since I took Canadian history, but there is no clear separation of church and state in any official documents surrounding Confederation. The freedom of religion didn't appear until the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982. Canada was never a completely secular nation like the US was. I'm merely stating that religion has influenced our politics to some degree. Though, less so than the US after the 1950's.

The BNA Act added some minor stuff like how to govern ourselves, criminal law, etc but yeah you're right. Still, the Fathers of Confederation were a really diverse bunch and there's never been an official church or anything of the sort. We were just as secular as the US.
Global warming.Zeviander
It actually kinda is. The temperature in North America is largely dependent on the arctic jet stream -- if you're south of it you get warm gulf air, if you're north you get cold arctic air -- and to make a long story short the warming arctic has been pushing the jetstream into more southernly latitudes. Hence why Toronto is cold as balls right now:
We were just as secular as the US.Aljosa23Now we are. Well... it could be argued they are less secular now than in the 18th century, but, our founding was not based around on a clearly delineated separation of church and state, allowing anyone and everyone from any and all cultural and religious backgrounds to enter the "melting pot" and live equally.
It's 9pm where I'm at and it's still 84F. It peaked at 103F earlier. I like hot weather, but fvck me.
LMAO, even us Minnesotans are finally out of that crap. Sucks for you Canadians, and we border your big ass. :PLOL why is it snowing? It's at 0 degrees where I am. A few days ago it was in the mid 20's. I don't get it

Strong High pressure out west is allowing colder artic air from the north to filter down to your area. There's also an Upper Low, allowing the colder air to pool overhead.
