Personally, I thought the first one was boring and nowhere near as scary as hype claimed, so I didn't even bother with the second one. Now there's going to be a third one? WTF?! I don't get why such boring movies are so popular. Can someone please explain that to me?

I had a friend start crying during the first movie. Dude was 21 at the time. When asked, he explained to us that he could relate as he had a ghost in his house when he was a kid and it only left when his dad yelled at it to go away. True story.

your opinion does not matter next to $193,298,009 the first film made in box office. clearly people did like it. Don't like it? Don't watch it.

I like watching the Ghost hunting shows so the first movie had my interest so I went and seen it. I thought it was good - nothing scary though. I plan on seeing PA2 soon when it comes to this cheap theater where I live.

Theres nothing to paranormal activity, just another case of bribes buying good reviews.

Yeah, the movie itself isn't very good. I still always end up seeing crap like that for an attempt at cheap "thrills" though.

It is called suspense. You youngsters do not seem to appreciate it any more, which is unfortunate. Problably find Hitchcock films "boring" too.

I don't get the hype either. I saw Paranormal 2 in theaters and it was no where near scary. I actually laughed. I decided to rent the first Paranormal to see what all the hype was about so I did and was soooo dissappointed. It was incredibly boring and not scary at all. It must be a casual thing I don't know.

The last movie that ever scared me was Signs, in theaters. It was scary for me at the time it was released. I'm 20 now so that was long ago though. :P

I'm not worried about struttin my internetz toughness, so I'll say I did find the first one to be scary. I had a bad experience when I was younger though, I saw the bad parts of the exorcist when I was about 6 years old and it scared the blank out of me at the time. Now, all that kind of stuff gets me even now haha. Not that I believe in it, which is strange that it scares me.

Then again, movies like Saw I don't bat an eye at. The unknown is scarier than buckets of blood any day to me.

the movie didn't scare me but I atleast had more care for the movie then the freinds I went with, they laughed at everything and I just sat there enjoying my popcorn thinking "well at least it doesn't have really bad CGI"

I saw both movies and they were seriously not scary, and I'm a huge chicken. I saw the first one twice; the second time I saw it a girl fainted. Now that scared me since I thought she died. The second made me jump once. I still like the movies though.

Your opinion is not absolute. What you find boring isn't inherently boring. The world does not revolve around your opinion.

I for one very much enjoyed the first one. I found it to be an exceptionally well made film considering its budget, and very much enjoyed the fact it didn't abuse the horror genre. It made you *think* the creature was there, without actually showing it. And that in and of itself can be far scarier than actually showing it (see: Boogeyman trilogy).

I think it has been successful because people can identify more closely with those people involved in the film. They are depicted closer to reality than other films, and the premise that the film was "discovered" after the fact, not merely something shotas a movie, gives a greater sense of realism. The single camera angle also increases tension, as you are only capable of seeing what the camera sees, and can't see anything from another angle.

Actually, I think you got a point. I was watching it "as a movie" rather than something that could happen in real life. In fact, I used to see ghosts when I was a kid.

It is the suspense, most movie nowdays just show the creature and a bunch of people trying to escape, in the end only the woman or the main couple escape while the other ones die. Living a happy ending What paranormal activity brought was suspense of having something in the house and sharing the same fear of the characters in the movie of NOT being able to see it. That fear is what makes somepeople see carefully through night scenes. They show a pic of the kitchen in a certain night. Nothing is supposed to happen in that night but someone at the theater screams Did you see that pan??? It just moved!! And that happens in many other night scenes. I personally enjoyed it, haven't seen the second one. Still we can't expect everyone to love that movie, haters gon hate Keep up the good work TC

As horror movies, i dont like Paranormal Activity and the likes, they just dont seem scary at all, but as movies in general i love them.

One of my favorite movies growing up were Signs.

But i on the other hand, scream and jump like a little girl when i see shock horror.

The movies aren't bad at all. IMO they are the best horror movies ever. Problem with any horror film (from the Shining and Alien to Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street) it is hard for anyone to believe that such thing could happen. I am not personally worried about meeting a burnt-face nightmare assassin, any kind of serial killers or someone becoming crazy in a Hotel. With paranormal activity (Specially the first one) it is something that you can truly regard as real. The pace is not slow and the fear of an unknown threat (which is mostly what fear is, something unknown) make you really care and fear what may happen. I can see why you may hate it but seriously, it is not a bad movie at all. PS. In the sequel, the first half was boooring as hell and the end was too over the top.

I hated the first one so have no interest in seeing the 2nd and definitely not the 3rd. Same goes with Saw movies. I don't get why people like them but at the same time that is why there are so many movies out there. There are always going to be the ones you don't like and always going to be a few that you do. Everyone's tastes are different

I agree with you on the first person camera ! The Blair witch creeped me out the first time I saw it....mainly because I was changing channels and the movie was like 15 minutes in already, at firstI thought it was all real and it was some documentary and stuff....scary ****
