I keep seeing it on BBC, but I never caught the report from the beginning. Is it basically about India being dirty?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I read a news article about it, and it's a ton of problems:
Security (a Muslim group recently claimed responsibility for a tourist being shot)
A bridge and a ceiling collapsed at the games' building.
Excrement in the rooms.
They had seven years to get ready, but little work was done until 2008.
Some countries are still debating whether to send their teams or not. This is quite pathetic on an international level. India is not the best part of the world, but it still have the resources to cover such things.GazaAliAgreed. It is only a month away and they are rushing to have everything ready. It's just the commonwealth games, its not like its the Olympics, they didn't need to make everything look beautiful just suitable which they certainly would have been able to. It's also likely to cause problems in case India would like to host another sporting event in the future like the World Cup or the Olympics.

i dont know what kind of muslim would open fire on a mosque
It has nothing with India being dirty. Wiffle_Snuff"The BBC has obtained pictures from inside the village showing flooding, leaking toilets, dirty bathrooms, incomplete apartments and animal paw prints on beds." LINK Yes it does.
Dirty isn't the reason I've seen. Security and incomplete facilities are the reasons I've read about and seen. If the dirtiness is a factor, it would be the facilities and not "omg India dirty!"Wiffle_SnuffNo one's freaking out about the state of India just this particular area is quite dirty. Participating nations have been very concerned over hygiene of the area because it is very dirty.

I would pull a team of athletes in a heartbeat after seeing those pics. India had seven years' notice for these games.

Theres a lot of hypocrisies acted out in the name of religion. They don't make sense but they happen.after looking at the state of toilets and rooms + bridge collapsing and part of roof falling down, i seriously dont know why this event hasnt been cancelled.
Same way you can kill a person in the name of Allah.[QUOTE="sikanderahmed"]

No matter how poor and low a country is, it should never appear like this in such formal events. Beside, India is not a country to be taken lightly in terms of economy and military power. This is, and I quote BBC, "National disgrace".This is India, what were you expecting? Oh well, atleast the cricket matches are good:P.
