What is your definition of emo?

Though they are a dieing breed, emo's have a hard time of finding a true identity. MCR, Linkin Park, Skillet... but what is emo?

emo= emotional. Isn't all music supposed to be emotional? Isn't that what makes it music?

I find that the emo's I know think that the world is against them. That is what I believe emo is. It's not a genre, just pop rock, hardcore, punk, alternative, w/e you want to call it. I find emo to be a personality trait. Not music.

If you must argue, dont use wiki- as its not written by actual officials that can define genre's.

Emo = emotion.

Emo stereotype = slitting wrists, stupid hair cuts etc.

All music has emotion, and therefor is emo.

Some music has the emo stereotype, and should be taken off the market, cause it sucks. I've heard enough of this "Oh I hate my parents /cry" bs.
