For me, it's rap and heavy metal.

70's Alternative? Noise rock? I don't even know what these are. :?
Yeah, what is 70's alternative? I didn't even think that the phrase was coined until the REM/Police era. Anyway, mine are post-punk, shoegazer, and indie.Acid jazz?[QUOTE="broken_bass_bin"]

Pig destroyer?
Meh, they're all right. Vocals are annoying though...
Pig Destroyer vocals from best to worst by album (in my opinion):
1. 38 Counts of Battery
2. Terrifier
3. Painter of Dead Girls
4. Prowler in the Yard
5. Phantom Limb (quite terrible vocals)
But if I were to rate Pig destroyer's best albums, for sure, no question, they would be 38 Counts of Battery and Natasha (CD version).
To me, that's all you really need.

Hard to explain Noise rock but I guess you could also call it experimental or progressive.

Yeah I guess your right. I was trying to describe bands like Talking Heads and XTC but I guess you could callit POP music.

Nah, don't degrade Talking Heads and XTC by calling them pop. In retrospect, they did help to start alternative, so I guess you could call them that (or new wave). I've heard that the term 'alternative' was first used to describe college rock bands in the early-to-mid 80s, but that doesn't mean that bands before that weren't alternative, I guess. If the term "heavy metal" was not coined until after Black Sabbath recorded their first songs, then that doesn't mean that they weren't a heavy metal band yet, right? For me, it's rap and heavy metal.

Those are tied as my least favourite genres. :|
My favourites are rock, classical, and most variations on the two.
EDIT: Crap.

Yeah, I forgot about New Wave. I started listening to bands like The Talking Heads, FishBone, Warren Zevon, R.E.M and DEVO all right around the same time and since the main descriptor for that sort of music at the time was alternative I just kept calling it that. I suppose I also should of said "indie" instead of 90's alternative but I forgot.
what markop2003 said, without the "a bit of" and with emphasis on the "everything".BiancaDK*goes to edit post*
I'd like to say I'm open minded to music, because I listen to a wide varity of genres, but I can be a bit of a music snob.
effena
Same here. I stopped being "open-minded" to other music years ago.

It's not really that I am not open-minded. It's just if you handed me any random CD that wasn't jazz or blues, there's probably a 90% chance I wouldn't enjoy it.
