Personally, I think the whole stereotype is crap. Does it really bother you if somebody wants to wear tight clothing? Or if they're depressed? Honestly, does it really matter how they dress? Jocks dress like jocks, preps like preps, punks like punks, emo's like emo's, honestly, big ****ing deal. Your giving people a hard time about how they dress? Jocks wearing their runners and sports shirts aren't any better than an emo wearing girl jeans, a tight shirt, and converse shoes. Honestly, what is the big deal? Almost everybody hates emo's, yet they do nothing wrong? Also, what's with this little wrist slitting crap, or the whole "daddy didn't love me", or depression, and all of this heart-break poetry crap? Are you honestly stupid enough to believe that crap? This is the lamest stereotype I've ever seen. Let people dress how they want. It doesn't bother anybody. Discuss

I don't care much for stupid teenage fads.  It does annoy me though, when people place themselves into one of those groups, like people saying they are emo, or goth, or whatever.  It's just stupid and childish, wanting to catagorise everything, because their tiny brains can't comprehend individuality.

I find all stereotypes to be laughably pathetic and unnecessary. Emo is just one turd that makes up the massive pile of dog**** that is social stereotypes/labels.

Dude they cut. I go to school with a lot of them and they show me their wrists. It's serious stuff and that's very dangerous. You can't just say who cares.

I'm not going to deny that, but the clinginess and the constant question of "Why do you like me?" gets really annoying after awhile.

Yes, I agree with that. I do think that people who injure themselves seriously should get some serious help. But then again, pushing them and laughing in their faces is not helping at all, more like the opposite. I think people are way too harsh to these kind of people, some of the emo's don't even try to be emo, they simply be themselves.

Yeah, that can be annoying, but it's mostly the few lame ones who do that for their image, some are actually depressed, while others are just normal people. Emo's can be anybody. It's just a stereotype now.

I think the term is thrown around too much, rather like the nu metal fad around 2000. My Chemical Romance...emo? Meh. I don't particularly like them (emos, not MCR) but not all are as emo as they say, some are just attention seekers who don't bother me.

Well just because you're rich doesn't mean you have to spend big bucks just to protect the modesty of your body. I buy cheap clothing because I feel that money would be better spent elsewhere. But yeah, I don't like the fact that they complain for no reason. Everyone has problems and a small touch of mental anguish, some more than others, but that's no reason to go around and act like you're the only one.

I know, I just brought that up. The emo stuff will end in another 4/5 years, like all trends, basically what you said. It's quite a stupid trend, to be honest. I don't mind the look, but the scene kids don't really understand what they're doing. No matter how lame it is, though, do they really deserved to get harassed so much? I don't think so.

Agreed. There are a few that probably deserve harrasment, but generally, a style of fashion shouldn't be something to harras about. My highschool right now is full of so many of these emo haters, it makes me laugh whenever they talk about cutting and emo's crying, the fact that they don't know what they're talking about is amusing.

as i've stated before, Emos are the degradation of society, and living proof that if we don't change our lifestyles our offspring will slowly de-evolve and forget the natural survival instincts as emos already have. We must not allow any heterosexual, (all three of them) emos to procreate. for the betterment of the species.
