I at first was going to pose the question 'how are you social,' but I felt like that would have too negative of a connotation. But what I mean by social style is the following: how often do you socialize, who do you end up socializing with (co-workers outside of work, childhood friends, classmates, etc.) and how do you usually decide to socialize? Are you methodical, out of necessity and/or preference, and so have a clear-cut schedule of socializing, or do you "wing it," and just call and/or text such and such person the day of to hang out?

I ask all this because I have noticed an abrupt change from when I was in high school to now. The amount that I socialize is roughly equivalent, maybe a little less, but oddly enough, it felt much easier to socialize when I was younger. Now, if people have kids, or two jobs, etc. then I definitely understand that finding that time to hang out and be with friends is going to be tough. But lately it seems to me that people are very lazy about even responding at all. Additionally, I find a lot more success with a phone call rather than a text, but I think it is because it is both a) harder to ignore (lol that makes me sound desperate) and b) that much more personal and thereby more engaging. But I will go hours between texts with people who I am fairly certain either do not have a busy enough schedule to not respond, or just opt not to, and I really don't know which.

All of that to say, I find that at work, it is very easy for me to be social and make friends quickly. Apart from that, it seems, either past friendship and/or going to something fairly frequent with them is the only way to maintain a semi-regular pattern of hanging out.

What do you guys think?

Tend to hang out less , now i'm more of a virtual guy, i do socialize online but in real life i'm rather alone . . . and no there's no specific schedule . . .

Ignore those who ignore you , screw'em.

How am I social? I don't tend to go out and if I do I prefer to do it alone. I field invites for different occasions but usually these individuals know that my default answer is no so they aren't offended when I decline and that's to my advantage. Then, whenever (on the rare occasion) I say yes they are pleasantly surprised and quite happy which works to my advantage too.

I'm quiet, don't like to bother others and don't wanna be bothered.

prefer my me-time. If I work 40 hours a week, I will want to maybe hang out one day of the week, then recharge my batteries for the other two days (I work four 10-hour days).

If I only go out once or twice a month, I consider that a good month; if I do too much, I feel drained. I love people, and I am OK with socializing, I just have moderate social anxiety, depression, and I am fat, so it makes it very difficult for me to get out. Constantly judging, criticizing, and questioning myself in social situations so I am exhausted after a social event.

I enjoy my job and my coworkers enough that I get most of my social needs from there, and I've learned that being alone is not lonely.

I just go out whenever I fell like it, which is never really a constant for me. I guess it would average about 4/5 days a week that I hang out with friends/co workers, but then again I'm only 18 so that's a lot easier for me to do.

I go out with friends from uni and friends from my town often. I do stay at home plenty and keep to myself when I feel like it, but getting out of the house to be with other people ultimately gives me a better sense of belonging somewhere than just being holed up.

During the semester I tend to just see my uni friends there, five days a week, and reserve the weekend for my town friends.

My Wife and I go out and socialize when our friends are in town - Which isn't often but it's a good balance. I enjoy socializing but I don't do it for sake of it, which again, works out, because nothing is 'forced', ie, conversation and so on. I'm only 30, so I have life in me yet.

I don't have that many friends, no patience for them and I get bored of most people quite quickly; that being said I socialise quite a bit, especially when I see a (mostly professional) opportunity. People seem to enjoy my company and I quite like being the centre of attention anyway, so it's all good...

I also like to chat just to chat, not to make friends or later invite someone for coffee, so I often chat with strangers =P

I have a few very close friends, I enjoy small, intimate conversations and get anxiety in large groups.

I used to think myself antisocial, then I became a truck driver and almost had a nervous break down. Now I'm a local driver and love my job.

The best way to describe my Social-style is balanced, because it's a reflection of my personality! Sometimes I'm outgoing, vocal and social, while at other times I'm conservative and laid back. Experience and maturity teach you how to adapt to different people and situations.

The only time I become confrontational....or vocal would be a better word, is when people don't show me the same respect and professionalism that I'm showing them.

Even then I try to show some type of diplomacy.

I see a close friend every couple of weeks or hang out with a group every couple of months.

I'm usually spending my free time by myself, where I enjoy being in solitude. I've got siblings too if I get bored. My life is like, Keep Calm and Party Hard. Nomsain?

I'm pretty introverted. My partner is my best friend. Her and I will go out every once in a while with friends from work, etc. I have a couple close friends and quite a few acquaintances.

I don't mind being introverted though. I've been in relationships in the past where the girl tried to change me. People that have to bounce around and suck in energy from socializing actually annoy the **** out of me.

Since my breakup months ago my social circle is my dog and me. It's not that bad actually since we both like to fart, take naps, scratch itches and bark at the mailman.

I much prefer the company of women, as a result of that my girlfriend is my best friend and I endeavour to spend as much time with her as possible. I wouldn't call myself sociable at all, I essentially wait to be invited to places and then decide if I want to go, I dont organise social opportunities.

More often than not, if I do go out without my partner it will be with work colleagues.

I have six friends in total who I keep in touch with from time to time. If I'm going out I usually hang out with a girl I've started chatting with online (or in today's case, my girlfriend).
I socialize with my fellow classmates / colleagues by talking to them during the lunch hour but nothing more. I enjoy their company but I do not desire it.
I'm very happy with the people I've got in my life, they provide me with all the company I want and need so I value them dearly.

I used to wing it when I was younger, but somehow, my life has fallen into a routine. Monday nights I kickback with one group of friends until about midnight then Wednesday I play basketball with another group of friends until about 23:00. Sometimes I'll hang outside of those times, but not often.
