Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Masters of Science in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety
The master's i didn't want to do a engineering degree, but i wanted to do a degree that wasn't being used widely, would still be useful and would compliment my bachelor degree. The Safety degree is basically what OSHA, NIOSH, FDA, and several regulatory bodies of several industries need, the private companies have people that work to make their work places safe places to work. Not only for their employees and the consumers but it keeps the authorities off their backside.
There are fundamnetally sound reasons for the degree to exist as it if effects - effectively - the companies bottom line, and has the added benefit of trying to keep everyone safe.
The intent isn't that the regulations in place are set in stone either, and their are scientific methods one can do (radiation, dust, chemical, noise exposure) to measure and minimilize it. Essentially it is an ever evolving animal. That is constantly being tweaked to increase effectiveness.
Believe me folks, you guys don't wanna know how many fingers would get cut off in butcher factories in the US back in the 70's and 80's. It was pretty bad. :?

ur masters degree is a great choice on your part. i live in the middle east and business over here is booming but u wont be able to get a contract unless u have a safety specialist that can ensure that the enviroment the labors are working in is safe. safety specialist get paid alot of money over here.
