I do understand that she only yelled at me out of concern since she just gave me a stern warning as opposed to outright punishing me. But still, this was horribly uncalled for. I don't argue with my mom unless I am outright pissed. I just typed this here out of a need to vent my anger. Ugh.......

Wait what? So you buy the ingredients, you make food for neighbors, take it too them, your mom doesn't know them, then she yelled at you for that. I'm less amazed by by your mom than I am how unlikely a story that sounds in the OT forum. That is just a series of events (well other than complaining about a parent) that I don't think I'd ever expect anyone to describe here. I think hot pockets might be a challenge for some OTers let alone the rest of the details ;)

I am 18, but I am less developed in terms of independence and maturity due to a mental condition, though I posses more intelligence than most people my age. At kurtoroine: I will probably ask her later. The incident just happened 10 minutes ago. I don't feel like testing her patience and losing my ability to post (thank goodness she doesn't come onto Gamespot).

Hm, weird. I can't think of a reason for your mother's behaviour in that case. If you were just a kid I could see why she wouldn't want you to visit the neighbours on your own.

Maybe she didn't want them to think you're poisoning them.

Even worse would be if they really do get sick.

Most of the neighbors are acquainted with me, and generally see me as a good kid. Though I would have assumed they either the man wouldn't have accepted the cake or take a lot less time to send back a reply if they were really suspicious about the cake.

You are not supposed to be friendly with neighbours. They are supposed to be your enemy. The only time yougive them food is when you dont like it or you suspect something to be wrong with it

that was what i was thinking. *the neighbor has an allergic reaction, then files a lawsuit for whatever reason* especially if u have some sort of mental condition. and yes, im not saying that these people arent nice.but u nvr know. people are people.and strange things can happen. i mean, my brother just bought a house in a city with the 2nd lowest crime rate in out state. yet, only 2 months into living there, he was robbed of both his ipod and laptop.(they broke into his house) you never know about people you have little knowledge of.

You mom needs to accept that you can't just bake her cakes, others enjoy cake as well. Tell her there are starving children, who just want to enjoy a slice of cake from time to time.

The fact that the issue might be a simple issue of mistrust bothers me. Is that what society has come to in the post-modern era? Though I do consider my mom as someone who would not be pleasent to be around if you are not related to her or sharing of similar views (like basically anyone else my age). A person with issues of preemptive underneath the shroud of her true intelligence. And don't get me started with kids on my lawn. Last year, they took 90% of the snow from my yard before I even woke up because theirs' is laughably tiny. O:

My mom saw the note and she YELLED at me. Both me and her tried the cake and liked it, so I knew it was safe for others. She told me to never bake sweets for other people again. I do understand that she only yelled at me out of concern since she just gave me a stern warning as opposed to outright punishing me. But still, this was horribly uncalled for. I don't argue with my mom unless I am outright pissed. I just typed this here out of a need to vent my anger. Ugh.......

I think many of us have dealt with a lot of ignorant people during our time in high school. That statement does not apply to Gamespot Off-Topic since generally, you must display intelligence on a consistent basis to even be noticed here, let alone taken seriously here for more than one thread. In the real world however, generalizations are more applicable since the people noticed most often by random people happen to be the ones who act the most stupid; you don't really notice the really smart guys in the general public, only in specific circumstances that require you to be associated with said smart guy. Anyway, I am waiting for a different time to talk to her since she generally remains mad for quite some time.

Well imagine if one of the neighbors was alergic to, say, coffee. You gave them a cake with coffee. You kill them. You get your ass sued back to the stone age. Get where I'm coming from? I however, am not allergic to coffee cake (I've had it before), so can you send me some?

your mom probably wanted to scarf the whole thing herself in her midlife crisis, because she realizes she's ancient, menopausal, saggy and not attractive and young anymore.
