I am just making this thread while I wait, I don't think I will be rejected.

Money and distance among other things. I don't mind not going to my dream college for my undergraduate degree, if it's the wiser decision.
I got accepted to all the schools I applied, but I wanted to go UTexas. I missed the application deadline because I wasn't very responsible my senior year. I did get in after taking my basics at a Lamar University and ACC which is in Austin. It was a long road getting here.
I got into my desired university. Australia is different to the US, as here university places are given based on a rank given from marks obtained throughout the last year of schooling. I got into my desired university easy as I studied hard and got the rank I needed.
Didn't even bother applying to my first choice schools because they all have reputations for being impossible to get into and for being really expensive. I instead chose one of the local state universities, mainly because they're cheaper and more willing to give money (I already got two pretty generous scholarships to the one I applied to, one of which is from the school itself) and they're still pretty good schools even though they're not "the best".
I was extremely lazy about it. I applied to one school that I didn't particularly care about and just went there.
I would regret my apathy today if many great things hadn't resulted from that decision.
Well I mean I would LOVE to go to MIT but that isn't realistic seeing I live in Canada and I don't have that kind of money. Now for a realistic first choice? I got in, so nothing kept me out of my first realistic choice.
