We have AC in the house. Doesn’t work in the car unfortunately. It was really hot the other day, had all windows down and the phone turned off due to temp warning. Never saw that before.

Central air. I imagine that's more common in the U.S. than Europe or am I wrong?

It's 37 degrees here and I am melting already. I feel sticky everywhere. I just rely on a fan and that's it. Can afford a premium air conditioner. Maybe portable aircon will help, but here in the UK it only gets hot in certain weeks of summer.

In the UK, if it's in a house, it's very uncommon to have central air unless you're filthy rich. Most UK housing will have a radiator stuck to the wall in each room.

I lived in California for a few years and AC was essential. When I moved back to Washington where it is only hot a few months a year we had to invest in AC we were just so spoiled. And it's been useful these last few years because there's been some really hot summers.

I also crack windows on warmer days. Trick isn't to have the window open in the room one is in, that's not enough, airflow has to be created. Best to leave doors in halls open and then open windows at opposite ends of the home so air flows through.

Curious now with heat wave see tons of ads on YouTube about some grade schooler who revolutionized portable air conditioners. Obviously bullshit scam bait but curious how many suckers are going to be buying these.

Central air powered by solar for the most part with battery backup for peak load shifting. We're not fully "off the grid" but we tend to send back as much as we receive most summer days and we get full credit for whatever we send back.

I also use quiet 42" tower fans in certain rooms where I feel like I need additional cooler or to offset the heat generated by devices in that room (like my office where my gaming PC is).
