I've thought about the linux, I've used it and liekd it. But I donno seems like a big leap. *is scared*
It's actually pretty easy to get a fully-functional Ubuntu system running. It's easy to install, and most programs can be installed from an add/remove list. If for any reason you need to use the console, you can find guides on the internet.Windows Vista primary OS, with Linux Mint using Awesome on main HD as secondary OS
Slackware, Slitaz, OpenSUSE, and Debian on Virtual Machines

If you want to run XP in the Virtualbox, you'll need a dual-core with at least 2GB of RAM. If you don't want to run XP in the VB, you'd do just fine with a high-end Pentium IV with a nice graphics card and 1GB+ of RAM.

Just go for basic Ubuntu. Ubuntu.com.Vista, and it is working perfectly fine, never had a single problem with it. Been with it since Febuary, and compared to other OSs I've used, Better then 95, by far better then ME, about the same as 2000, and so far its been better then XP. I haven't had an OS this good since 98, and 98 was my favorite, used it all the way till year 2005.....
Vista also looks better then others (Other then 98), I like its features, and works alot faster, and never had a problem with it at all. I am not running a network though, and I am the only one who uses this computer.
I've also got like, 3 gigs of ram, 2.8 ghz processer, a 512mb GeForce graphics card, and 1 terabyte of space to use, so I've got alot of resources to power my computer. I've heard that vista takes alot to keep it running good, so this might be why its running so good for me.

I definitely have the specs to run that but I'm already settled in Vista. (I have everything just how I like it.) I don't think I could switch even if I wanted to.:P What is that box thing called btw? Edit: Damnit, didn't mean to submit yet. I still had stuff to type.:?... Ok, I think I'm good now. Lawl.:P Added: ^^^^^^ Exact same thing with me, Vista works fine but it might be because I have so much power to spare. Heck, this desktop changer thing can hog up to a half a gig of ram by it's self but I still use it.:P
I am using XP currently. I REALLY wanted to switch to Linux, but when I actually decided to switch, I learned that Linux is by far the clumsiest and most confusing operating system out there. I did not even know how to install a program on the OS for goodness sakes!

It does take time for some people to get used to. I've been lucky in that Ubuntu has never given me a problem. It works perfectly for me.
Remember it's not going to be a walk in the park like Windows. But once you get past the hurdles you'll be glad you stuck with it. :)
