Here in American the NFL has the largest fan base among any other sport, but I know that alot of foreign people consider it stupid. I was just wondering what sport is really popular in the country that you live in.

In the United States I would hazard that jai-alai, cricket, and soccer probably have the largest followings.

This is true. The NFL is a fringe sport with a tiny cult-like following.
Footbal (Not soccer), basketball and baseball have the biggest followings here in the US. Soccer is a joke here IMO, all the news stations coming out of Seattle (I live in Washington) always talk about theSeattle SoundersFC and it sounds like complete BS. Who wants to watch a sport where they tie?

Indeed. They continue to resort to acts of great destruction by tipping over cars and setting fires on the tiniest whim so great is their anger over the unpopularity of their sport.
You know, hockey used to be like that before they introduced the shootout...>_________>Footbal (Not soccer), basketball and baseball have the biggest followings here in the US. I'm glad it's gettin popularity in pockets of the US. And hopefully news of the USA making the final of the Confederations Cup was not ignored that much. But, I live in Canada, so hockey is the biggest sport here.Baseball is bigger than Football in America. Here in American the NFL has the largest fan base among any other sport, but I know that alot of foreign people consider it stupid. Yes, I am aware of that, but it is quite rare.[QUOTE="Shrapnel99"]

Baseball has many more games in its season that are televised, but football has a much larger audience.
Hockey. Guess. awesomeface
Canada is quite a great plac eh? Unless you live in Sweeden but even then Eliteseren is pretty good
Football ("Soccer" that is, for you American types) is by far the most popular sport here in the UK. I'd say around 70% of all sports coverage is dedicated to football.

Since I live in Canada, it is hockey. When i was in Elementaryalmost every kid except me played hockey and thats what we would play in gym. Almost everyone is a hockey fan here, me to Go flames go! But some people here never stop talking about hockey!

Football has more viewers because its games are usually televised nationally and there is only 16 games in a season versus 162 for baseball. Baseball is the more popular sport though.[QUOTE="trodeback"][QUOTE="Rocky32189"] Baseball is bigger than Football in America.Rocky32189

TV rating wise Football is the most popular. Baseball obviously gets more viewers a season because their are thousands of games you can watch but Football has more viewers per game and they sell out a lot more (at least my team always sells out :) same for Baseball though). But the most popular live sport is NASCAR hands down. I have heard it is really fun to actually be at the track, plus they can hold much more people. They probably talk so much about the Sounders because they average about 30,000 people every game. Also, the atmosphere at Qwest for Sounder games is supposedly amazing. I'd love to attend a game there.Footbal (Not soccer), basketball and baseball have the biggest followings here in the US.
