What religion is the most in touch with these modern times?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
first one should explain what he/she means by 'modern times'... many religions are adopting to changes in culture however these are not technological objects which improve with time and adopt to human needs... Religion is something personal, you either believe in god or you dont..
also i've seen your other locked thread on SW, dont say satanism is a religion, thats just stupid.. All religions even if they vary in shape, form & origins all have (should have) one thing in common to bring a message of love, peace, forgivness and acceptance...

why because your god n religion says so? how do i know that lucifer is evil? because some book says so as well? and messages of ''love, forgivness and acceptance''...thats funny.
Most in touch with modern times would be evolution... you know, a mix between scientology and athiem.

For all we could know Lucifer is the good guy and is being framed by god who is the bad guy.
I mean who has a bigger murder record?
God of course and by a long shot.
Satan has like 6 and I think God has more than Hitler mainly because of the Flood.
I'd rather side with Satan if I had to pick between both.
God seems more like a douche.

Sure, they aren't religions as much as science. That was my point though. For the most part I think that most people that keep up with scientific evidence know that most any religion is simply a guideline in which you should live your life by. Kind of like a warm fuzzy feeling... you feel me? If not, I am saying that relegion in general is a good thing, in the fact that the moral principles teach good human behavior. With that being said though, science has hard proof that many things in just about any religion you can conjure is wrong or made up in some way shape or form. Some things have not been proven wrong though, so who is to say what the truth is. Anyways, I believe in a mix of evolution and religion. Hmmm... maybe I should start another new religion... lmao.
I'm sorry I don't understand the question, do you mean is religion detrimental? :?
If so then yes probably!

But you don't need religion to teach morality.
Not a religion, but the people, the non-extremist believers of Islam have a higher priority in scientific research than those who are Christan. I need to find where I've read that.

The Middle East used to have be one of the most scientifically advanced places on the Earth ( I forget which part though), but that was thousands of years ago.

Very true, and since you said that I can tell you are one of the people who understand that. What i am getting at is that a lot of people fall back on religion as a security blanket and a way to enlightenment and morality. Bottom line is, if you have morals and you are a good person at heart, isn't that what matters the most? What most people don't know is that most modern religions at one time or the other were forced on people! If you said you didn't believe you were an evil person and put up for crimes. Religion was originally forced (in most cases) as a law and morality system. Also, you are for the most part going to believe what you were taught... Every religion can not be right, which means only one, or none can be the truth. Think of it that way. What I believe in is that as long as you live a decent life and don't purposely do others wrong, if there is an afterlife you will be where good people belong. Whatever that may be. It gets down to the fact that nobody actually knows the truth until after they die.

Well it would be great if people didn't follow things blindly because some book said it.
They should be good not for reward but because they want to be good.
Religion and a lot of other fanatical idealogies can make good people do bad things.
.
I myself believe that once you die it's over so make the best of what you have now.
It's very hard for people to imagine not existing and it is troubling to some as it can be to me but I don't turn away from it and make up unsupported alternatives.

anyone has the right to believe or not to believe in something, but again dont mix the crap thats satanism with other forms of religions that teach or try to pass a message of peace.. I dont know if there is life after death and franky dont care either, but millions of people feel the need to believe in something (god), so as long as that belief helps them be better people (cause religion is a guideline), then its a good thing..

Yes but that same religion helps many good and bad people do horrible things.
It's a double edged sword.
And why can't I mix Satanism in with other religions?
Have you even read the Satanic Bible?
Some people never get enough of the most stupid answer, atheism.GazaAliso you just had to restate it?
Buddhism has been the most influential on Western culture for a while I feel like.quiglythegreatIts certainly the one I feel holds the most noble views
Most of them aren't. The majority of their adherents are very traditional and conservative in their interpretations of the faiths. Most religions are completely applicable to modern times, the majority of them really aren't in practice however. Religious individuals are more likely to be modern-thinking, but the organizations are for the most part, especially Islam, almost medieval.

Obviously you've never actully looked into the beliefs of satanists.... LaVey satanism seems like the best fit, it's the libertarianism of religon.also i've seen your other locked thread on SW, dont say satanism is a religion, thats just stupid..
