Many of you probably already saw the google doodle of Shakuntala Devi or already heard of her. She was a prodigy who could calculate numbers in seconds, as well as provide exact dates of things. She's in the Guiness Book of Records for multiplying two 13-digit numbers and verbally replying the answers all within 28 seconds. The numbers were 7,686,369,774,870 × 2,465,099,745,779 (picked at random by the Computer Department of Imperial College, London). The answer is 18,947,668,177,995,426,462,773,730. Y'all should check out more of her feats.

Simply amazing...

Okay, now the Google front page is making sense to me.

These kind of people amaze me, savants that is, I'd love to have those abilities, even if it comes at the expense of other cognitive processes, I'd mostly like to have the ability to just absorb knowledge and have it instantly accessible.

I've seen some interesting documentaries on Kim Peek, the real life inspiration to Rain Man, that guy amazes me.

I'd love to have one of those blessed brains, I'm reminded of a funny scene from Malcolm in the middle I was watching, where Malcolm is studying with some super genius kid, and his conversation with the kid goes...

Malcolm: "I mean for me it's like when I'm thinking really hard my brain starts making connections and those connections make other connections and it feels like a bomb going off. Is your brain like that?"

Barton: "It's like a beehive and every bee has a brain like yours."

Yeah it's pretty mind blowing how some people can do that, but really what's the use of having that ability? It's pointless to work hard to be able to do that.

Damn, and people think it's ridiculous that I can multiply a single set of 2-digit numbers in my head.
