A good laptop, trust me, even if it's a 400 dollar laptop, if you treat it right, it will bring many hours of enjoyment.
For the things you listed a touch would be great, it has some good cheap games, youtube works great on it and the 3g models (2g too I think) have great sound as long as you don't feed them crap and you know how to use iTunes. Also you won't get a very good laptop for the same price, you will have to pay a lot more for a decent laptop and in which case I would recommend building a PC because I hate laptops.
You will get a lot of people say otherwise because they have never used a touch and that irrational hate for Apple btw.
Then upgrade it or buy something else, i see no reason why you'ld ever consider buying an iTouchok but i forgot to mention that i have arledy a computer who is ok for gaming

Read up on the Touch on the mobile gaming board, I take mine everywhere and it makes boring parts of the day go much faster. Best Mp3 player I have owned, CD quality music if you encode to 256kbps and it has some great games and apps. Keep some money aside for a decent pair of earbuds though.
I can not even believe this is a question. The laptop.clayron
I swear to god this was going to be MY EXACT ******* post...word for word
an ipod is a luxury in the truest sense of the word...a computer becomes less so with each passing day (almost a necessity at this point)
You will get a lot of people say otherwise because they have never used a touch and that irrational hate for Apple btw.SapSacPrimeIrrational isn't the term to describe it. More like warranted, but that's just my opinion. I'd go for the laptop. My $280 netbook is better than an iPad.
the laptop. just buy a laptop and download songs. when u have nuff money for ipod touch go get it. as a owner of a ipod touch its okay. most of the apps drain ur battery in less then 1h. if ur focusing on music for ur ipod u dont really need a ipod touch
It's been a month and I am not bored of it. In fact I think it's very helpful and fun. A regular iPod is not that great of a substitute unless all you want is music/videos.You'll be bored of your ipod touch and all of it's features in a couple weeks. You just need a simple ipod with decent battery life that can play music. A decent gaming laptop however has tons more potential.

Well, if you already have a desktop and are not in college or anything, I would definitely get the iPod Touch. If you don't have your own computer, the laptop definitely. And if you don't even need a computer for portability get a desktop since its cheaper.
