How about you wait for a few months to a year before you decide. I dont want you to waste your money But i guess get HD DVD since its cheaper and it wont so great of a lost if HD DVD loses.

Wait until the holidays till one has proven that it's worth getting. Currently neither has an advantage over the other except HD-DVD is getting the Matrix 1, 2, and 3 and Blu-Ray isn't.

I heard on the Hotspot (from this very site) that stores are already clearing out their HD-DVD inventory.

Why anyone would get a Blu-Ray player other than a PS3 right now though is beyond me.

Blu ray is gettin matrix...just later...which is stupid for WB considering blu ray sales are outselling HD DVD 3:1...and Blu ray has a tremenedous more amount of support then HDDVD and titles....HD DVD only has universal movies exclusives....where is blu ray has way to many to name....i suggest getting a BR player if you have the money...if not pick up a ps3

Blu Ray is getting them, there's just no date. If you were buying now I would say Blu Ray. I have both, and I tend to favor the transfers on HD DVD movies, but if you can only do one, I would just get a Blu Ray player in the form of a PS3, or wait until the summer because Sony will have a standalone available fo 499. You can also get LG player that does both formats.

This is the opinion of an analyst. That certainly doesn't make it fact. There are supposedly 300 titles coming out this year on HD DVD. Here's a link, it's from January. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/417

It has nothing to do with Universal. HD DVD has better inactive menus, better transfers, and the combo discs that work in HD on standard DVD players are nice as well.

This is only the second month that HD DVD has been outsold since both formats were released, coincidently there were no notable releases on HD DVD with the exception of the departed.

In the end blu-ray will win,  With Sony backing it and lowering prices and more space on 1 disc.

If there actually ends up only being one High Definition Video format, the yes it will most likely be Blu Ray. Until then, I'll keep buying both of them.

HD-DVD's are sold by retailers, don't flat out lie, we do know you love sony, but besides that wait till one wins blue ray has a bit more saled but HD has better quality and it has the porn industry behind it, so eventually it probably will win.

Blu Ray has the better movies (Casino Royale), so I would get a PS3 so you could watch good movies and get GTA IV, Final Fantasy XIII, MGS 4 and Gran Turismo 5 (not HD, the next GT).

Blu-ray. The sales, quality of films, and studios backing it speak for themselves.
