Avoid lactose as much as possible, drink a decent amount of water, use saline spray, and drink chamomile tea with honey in it. All of those tend to work for me.
If you want I can ask my grandmother if she knows any ancient Chinese remedies.
Careful with that. Chinese medicinal teas are some of the worst stuff I've ever tasted. My grandma used to make me choke that stuff down whenever I was sick as a kid. She didn't speak a word of english and I think she used that as an excuse to ignore my protests and pour that foul liquid down my throat.
Real non-supermarket honey, if you have any local supplies of honey that hasn't been purified and boiled and treated and all sorts of nonsense then that works, it's naturally anti-bacterial so works and tastes great. If that isn't much help then do what I regularly do and just take a strong painkiller, three or four should work.
Slightly sore: Hard candy Moderately sore: Halls or menthol cough drops Very sore: Cepacol lozenges Crazy sore (strep throat): There is nothing that helps
I'll try to have a tolerably flavored lozenge. Halls are disgusting. I miss those lollies that were losenges on a stick, made for kids. Those were great.
