what tool should i use ???

hi i am trying to make a level of my university for fun and i just want to add movement that is that you could only move in the level and have a little bit of interaction like opening doors and turning switches on and off with decent looking graphics. so i want to know an easy tool to make that level in. please help in this and thanks.

Sounds like bad news, end up going V-Tech on people. I wouldn't do it.

Are we talking graphics libraries here? It can be done in OpenGL. Otherwise you can try to make a Flash thing or something but I have no experience with that and OpenGL would take too long for me to explain to you how to exactly do it.

Now if you just want to make a level in a pre-existing game then HL2 is easy enough along with UT2k4 or Doom3. Just use their map creation tools they offer.

i want to make something like a indoor hl2 level but i also need it as a seperate application that i could run it without hl2. i want to make an application that i could give to people and the could run that application.

i m not going towards v-tech i just want kind of a virtual tour for my university

I'm thinking 3D studio max or something. I don't think you're going to find anything easy to do that in.

3D studio max is only for making models I believe. I have never used it myself because I don't have any artistic skill so I can't answer what would be best. You will still have to use the models in OpenGL or something to be able to move around and interact with it.
